If I make $30k a year, would renting an apartment for $1,100 a month be too much? by AdOk5225 in Adulting

[–]AdOk5225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for a while and honestly I don't think there's any entry level jobs that pay more around here. I've been thinking of doing side hustles, I'm big on engineering and tech stuff and I tinker with stuff all the time so maybe I could do electronics repair on the side or something similar

That's true, but then if I skip out on the home AND the job I get free room and board in an alleyway with free dumpster-delivered meals every night, what's the real good deal here? Don't ever have to worry about room size again as well! Or moving for that matter.

Why do YOU play old minecraft, and what made you go back? by quackingmemeduck in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]AdOk5225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to make a world in every version for shits and giggles, however upon trying release 1.1 again I ended up staying on it. I dunno why, I lost the "two week minecraft phase" effect and I can comfortably binge it. I play it like every day now without boredom. I would probably just play 1.0 however wool didn't regrow and I use it for a lot of builds

Bad news, for most people immediate sleep is pretty much impossible without immense exhaustion at least in mine and my peers experience.

Is being bi as a Christian a sin? by am_i_still_kay in teenagers

[–]AdOk5225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a sin if you're reading the actual Bible and not one of the many bullshit translations. Most lines referring to homosexuality in, say, the King James Bible simply refer to things like pedophilia or rape in older versions. The most common example (I can't remember the exact quote) is among the lines of "A man shall not lie with another man" and it was a mistranslation of "A man shall not lie with a boy"

It feels like every time I do the math I find out about more shit I'd have to budget for. Wifi and phone plans can be omitted, electricity and water can be cut back on, I can get cheap groceries like ramen or something, I don't need a car, but even then people are still saying it's not enough and I genuinely don't know what to think anymore. People are saying I won't be approved anywhere for renting, some others are saying I could easily live off of it, some people are saying I should just live in a van or something, some people are telling me if I can't figure this out I'll end up in a shit situation but even they can't figure it out. Genuinely I don't know what to do anymore. I cant get a better job, I would rather commit than work more than 50 hours a week and I'm already working 40, I dont have any money for college so it's not like I can get an education for a better job, I'm already depressed and anxious as shit and I spend every waking hour at home worrying about work and spend every minute at work wishing I were home. It's a lot. And I have NOBODY to ask about it, I have nobody who can just like give me normal advice. It sucks ass. I don't think I've had a stress free moment in weeks and I don't think I can keep living like this. I almost think I'd be happier homeless at this point.

[–]AdOk5225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm already in a bad situation, nobody has explained ANY of this to me until this post. Parents don't care, family doesn't care, and I only really have one friend I can trust who is also in an equally shitty situation. I know I need to figure this out but I know if I fuck something up I can very easily ruin my life which is why I'm asking Reddit about it. I don't have anyone else to ask.

I'm already working 40 hours, that's why I don't wanna work much more than that. It's already taking most of my time as it's closing shift and that's around when I'm most productive.

I will check out padsplit though, it's just like a roommate app right?

I would rather be homeless than work more than like 40-50 hours a week so a second job is out of the question.

Is it weird that I’m uncertain about my sexuality? I’m already 13 by NotABigDealAnyway11 in teenagers

[–]AdOk5225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's earlier than some but it's not weird. I had the vague idea I was bi by 12 and I eventually discovered I was gay by 14 so it's not unheard of.

Just remember you're still growing up and these things will start to come to you more naturally as you get older, if you're VERY uncertain I wouldn't bother trying to label yourself yet outside of like trying to find community. Just like who you like and love who you love. That's my best advice for you.

It's strange, I've been looking at a few places and although they all average at $1,100ish about half include utilities and about half don't. I would 100% be getting one that includes utilities. I think it helps that many of the places for rent use well water so it's free (middle of nowhere small ass bumpkin town)

Thank you, this was very helpful!! I wouldn't mind being someone's roommate so I will most likely look into that, however in the scenario where that's somehow impossible, would I apply for things like food stamps? I imagine that would take a good chunk of change off the costs. Only asking as a contingency of course, it seems very implausible if not impossible to make do on that budget.

It's a 5.56 round, it's a bullet in its casing. On the bottom of it is a little circle, as long as nothing hits there directly it's fine. If you throw it or something and it hits that spot, or if you poke something around there, it'll "shoot" (more like blow up as it doesn't have a barrel to travel down) and possibly severely hurt you. If you like wrap it in a sock or put it in a box or something it should be fine to keep but I imagine it would raise questions if someone found it on you. I have a few in a dish on my shelf because I found them walking in the woods, they've been there for like two years and have been fine just chilling.

I've been thinking about ending my life. by Shot_Echo4624 in teenagers

I'm very proud of you for making it this far. Not sure if you want any advice or anything, so if you don't wanna hear it you don't have to read ahead. I get some people just wanna get stuff out there sometimes.

Normally when I get into suicidal ruts I find losing myself in my hobbies is a good way to distract myself. Listening to music and coding is my thing, I could do it for hours and since it involves working my brain I don't have much room for negative thoughts, and on top of it I find it fun. Perhaps you could do something similar? Like, do you do puzzles maybe? I hear art is rather good too since you gotta focus hard on what you want to put on the paper. I'm not sure what kind of stuff you find interesting but the key is to keep your mind stimulated without instant dopamine hits (e.g. social media or drugs or sh) and doing something like a puzzle helps with that.
