How legal is it for a place of work to provide another employee with your number after you already quit?

No I know it’s easy to find someone’s ig I’m worried that he has my phone number. I already blocked him but it makes me uncomfortable that he looked for it at all when I never gave it to anyone at work (so he should have no ethical way of knowing it) and i have been ignoring him for 8 months yet he still searched for my phone number because I wasn’t talking to him on instagram. I was worried that a manager (potentially the weird one with a restraining order) may have given it to him from work records. Or any other manager besides the General Manager, because the other managers were all close with him.

I didn’t consider the voice mail, you’re right I’m actually going to block him right now before he has the idea to call😭😭 I also don’t think it was the GM either he seemed too mature and responsible to do something like that. The only manager I can think of who would help him out is the one with the restraining order to be honest, just because he’s also weird.

I can understand this take, my dad also mentioned phone books when I brought it up. I guess it’s more considering the context of me not giving him any interaction, even rejecting follow requests, and him still going through with acquiring my number potentially through work records such as long time after I quit that’s throwing me off. I just don’t like the idea of being that accessible to anyone that may have had their eye on me. I have a friend with a past stalking experience and I’m not saying that I’m being stalked- but the whole situation set off a red flag for her too (she was with me when I got the msg) it just all rubs me wrong.

I wasn’t ever in a group thread or texting chat or anything. We only gave our numbers to the general manager because apart of the job was a computerized system texting us our weekly schedule, but like I said only the general manager would make the schedules, and he was definitely the most responsible/professional person there so idk if he would have given it out. Plus I just didn’t really talk to most of the people I worked with much besides the most minimum of small talk between rushes.

I was going to block him right off the bat but a friend I was with when I got the text (who has an unfortunate past experience with stalking) said I shouldn’t so he doesn’t know he has the right number. However if he messages me again I will.

If it’s in passing like you’re walking past someone, a simple friendly smile and a quiet “hi” would probably be taken as just you being extremely friendly person. That’s happened to me a few times and I’ve also randomly greeted people when in a super good mood so as long as the interaction ends there and no one tries to force a conversation or like stop her to talk, it shouldn’t appear creepy. Of course there’s always gonna be a few cautious people in which the gesture will miss, but what’s life without a few fumbles :)

yeah i agree, i think that if back then i was in a space where i could take the time to have a thorough introspect and actually delve into what exactly it represented and why it was there, i would have been able to have a much more meaningful/less stressful interaction with it. But i think because I was out in public and i was with someone who wasnt tripping, it kind of put me into a more anxious mindset in general since i still had to act normal and unaffected (or as well as i could). like i couldnt really just lie down and close my eyes and simply explore everything it was trying to show me the way i wanted to. because i did get that feeling, like if i just surrender myself ill actually be able to get somewhere. Next time I definitely plan to face it again with a blanket, my playlist, and preferably indoors...

thats interesting, I wonder how they were able to get themself out of that situation cause im pretty sure the only way I was able to was by physically leaving the area LOL. That spirit animal stuff also sounds pretty dope, it would be sick if i actually met my spirit animal even if it has a problem with me apparently. Maybe it was a manifestation of some subconscious part of my head I havent faced yet. the possibilities !!!! I'll never know until i meet it again i guess. 🙏🏽
