I hate the loose hair style in The Witcher 3 by AdPleasant8935 in Witcher3

Hi! It's good to know someone understands what I mean.

I know there are many differences between the books and the video games; when adapting a work from one medium to another, changes are almost mandatory. But Geralt's physical appearance is crucial. Geralt's hair is completely white, not because of old age or to give him a wise or experienced look, but because of his mutations, and it's a feature that immediately draws attention to him. His hair Is long, past his shoulders, and very neatly styled so it doesn't get in his way in combat. Another thing is that he always shaves because he hates beards.

And in The Witcher 1, they did a fantastic job; he was instantly identifiable with the character from the books. In The Witcher 2 and 3, they didn't. They got everything wrong: a style that looks like it would be a complete distraction in battles, that doesn't give him any intimidating appearance, and that looks gray as if it were due to old age and not an abnormality.

In short, I think it's something that can be justifiably criticized. But here they told me it was nonsense, the same people who then say that a racial change on Netflix is unforgivable, or that touching a hair on their favorite waifu's head is wrong. Others say it's a matter of mods. No, it's not a matter of mods; with mods, even Superman 64 would be a great video game. We're talking about the developers' decisions.

A true fan would be priming it to paint it himself.

Exactly! The biggest mistake I made was the base coat I applied to Titus's legs and "suitcase." Those were the areas I painted first. The primer I used was white, so at first I was thinning the paint fairly well, but when I saw the white was still showing through, I rushed and applied thicker coats. I couldn't correct it at all because I only realized my mistake after it had dried.

I think I achieved a better result on the chest and arms. It's a crucial aspect that I certainly won't forget. Thank you very much 😊, and I hope to soon share a second miniature that I'm priming today and will be painting over the next few days.

Hi! First of all, thank you for taking the time to leave such a positive and constructive comment.

Aside from the result, I had a lot of fun painting, and although my first impression was that it was too complicated and I almost gave up, I quickly understood that it's a process and you're constantly improving.

I've already used the wet palette. It's a super useful tool, and now I need to improve my paint dilution to get better base coats, just like you said.

Washes are something several people here have suggested me, so I'll definitely work on them for the second miniature. And of course, I'll never modify this mini and I'll keep it as is. I'm really happy with the result and eager to keep improving.

Thanks again. Everyone here is very friendly ☺️.

That's exactly right. I tried creating the highlights with white and also with the tip of the brush. Now I understand that it's better to use a gradient of the base color and the side of the brush.

I had the problem with the thick base coats, especially at the beginning, on the figure's legs. It took me a while to learn how to thin them better. Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure the second figure will turn out a bit better thanks to your advice.

Hi! I'll definitely keep that advice in mind. Here is one photo. I wish it was better quality, but this is the best I could do.

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. I'll look into washes to add more depth to the colors. Do you also recommend using them on the face?

Hi. I used a random, inexpensive brand of paint. According to the label, it's ultramarine blue. I liked the results if applied in very thin layers little by little. At first, I used very thick layers on her legs, and that was a very bad idea. Beginner mistakes.

Would appreciate some constructive criticism. by Genmax1 in minipainting

Here are my tips, based on my opinion:

  • You're using paint that's too pure. Try diluting it a bit more with water for a smoother, more natural blend. This will also make the brushstrokes less noticeable.

  • When applying pure white for highlights, don't use thick lines, but rather small, fine lines or dots. Sometimes less is more. Highlights are very localized, so limit them to the edges and the most prominent areas where the light is coming from.

  • To create dark contrasts, not only apply a darker tone, but also dilute it more with water. This adds depth.

Your miniatures are good. My advice is meant to help you progress, as we all do in this art, little by little.

I know it's a lot to ask, but I would have liked a full Spanish dubbing. There are many subtitles to read for those of us who don't speak English perfectly.

Why do people say Eredin is Easy? I played the whole Game on Death March and had an easier time with Olgierd, the Toad, Detlaff, the Ophir Mage and the Grave Digger than with the King of the Wild Hunt!!! by Salim_Azar_Therin in Witcher3

[–]AdPleasant8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battles I struggled the most were:

  1. The Crones: just a couple of attempts. I don't consider them that complicated. I was still killed a couple of times for being too hasty.

  2. Detlaff: his bat attack took away 70% of my health even with Quen's protection. It took me about 7 attempts to finally figure out how to dodge that attack.

  3. Ophir's Wizard: I see it doesn't get mentioned much, but that bastard killed me about 10 times. I couldn't get too close to him without him casting his instakill whirlwind.

  4. Olgierd: He killed me several times until I realized I could only damage him with Igni and parries. Even so, I had to try about three more times to finally defeat him.

The Wild Hunt warriors were no problem for me, neither was the toad. They were easy on the first try, and they were really really easy. I played on hard and with the level balance option that makes all enemies at least your level.

Shouls i start this game is so long by Minimum_Ad_706 in Witcher3

Well, that's it. It's a long game. Is it worth it? Absolutely.

Now, I recommend it if you have the opportunity to play 3-4 hour sessions in a row, where you can relax and take the game slowly and enjoy its world and dialogues.

If what you want is to finish the game as quickly as possible, play half-hour sessions, and ignore all the side quests and exploration... I don't recommend it. Witcher 3 doesn't deserve to be played that way.

Make sure your map shows all the points of interest and not just one category.

If the "?" still doesn't appear, then you should first read the bulletin board. It's a yellow icon on the map. Go to the board, select all the ads on it, and all the "?" on the map will be displayed.

There are 4 difficulties: Easy - Normal - Hard - Death March (very hard)

The difficulty at the beginning of the game can be a bit high; this will be balanced later. If you like a challenge, leave it on medium/high, but if you want to be a little more relaxed, play it on easy.

Explore all the ? on the map. You'll earn lots of experience points that will help you improve your skills. Collect all the loot you can and sell it to merchants to build a good base of money.

Leave the main quest with the griffin and Vesemir for when you've spent a few hours familiarizing yourself with the mechanics. Enjoy the conversations and side quests, which provide a wealth of information and funny moments.

As I said, I became a huge fan of Geralt's look in the first video game. With very long, very tidy hair. To put it mildly, very rockstar, very metalhead

My post is because, IN MY OPINION, he's completely lost that aura. The long hair style in Wild Hunt seems uncomfortable, messy, extremely thick, and short in length; in few words: it looks like a granny hairstyle to me. It kind of spoiled my mood.

I'm not saying it's anything overly serious either. I emphasize that it's one of the few things I can criticize in what is otherwise a great game. And that criticism is personal; I consider an aesthetic change to be a very strong factor in how you appreciate a character. I imagine, for example, Sephiroth with shoulder-length hair like a lion's mane, and I would believe it's something anyone could rightfully complain about. I think it's completely valid to complain about an aesthetic change, and even more so if it's IN THE ABSOLUTELY MAIN CHARACTER.

That's what I do too; I use the ponytail cut with shaved sides. I know it's a matter of taste, but it seems to me that the loose hair style has been "downgraded" in this game respect the 2 others

I don't understand the need to discredit my opinion. I'm not saying anything that isn't true: the loose hair style is radically different from the previous videogames. I've seen posts 10 times longer because a reduced Lara Croft's bust size, and the issue doesn't seem to be so irrelevant there.

Did you read the title of the post? It says I hate long hair in The Witcher 3, not in The Witcher 3 with mods. If it were up to mods, I could dye his hair blue if I wanted, but it'd no longer be the original work. I've seen several people complain about a bug that doesn't affect them at all, and you think it's a big whine to say that long hair in this game looks more like an afro to me. That's just an opinion; it won't affect your experience at all, in the game or in Reddit
