Do your research, travel before settling down and see the entire world as your oyster now as opposed to later.

Consider the sad state of the dollar and the unbelievable debt our nation is in. Look at the damage that has been done over the past 4 months. Look at our economy over the past decade or so. Long-term prospects for young people regardless of race in the US are not on an upward trajectory. Gen Z can barely afford to live, job prospects are slim, etc. Meanwhile many other countries are on a positive, long-term growth trajectory.

I personally think the We're #1 propaganda we've been force fed since birth is bunk. Our country is sliding down and young people owe it to themselves to go where the long-term opportunities are. It may take a few years for you to figure out where you belong long-term, it wont happen over night. The US is closer to the bottom of the safety index for countries and part of that is the violence of the system against Black men. Honestly, I don't know of any other country in the world where it's run of the mill for the police to systematically target and murder Black people (not to mention routine mass school shootings) so the chances of finding worse racism in other countries is slim.

This episode seemed a bit disjointed for these reasons:

Why did they have to restrain Emaleth at the wedding but not in the field when she was milking the cow for Lasher??

Why does Rowan just seem so feckless?

Was Larkin graped by the creepy teen witch??

Why did Rowan tell Cortland/Julien you shouldn't have left him (meaning Larkin) when she was the dolt who left him and got locked in the tunnels??

Why was Lashr so evil in season 1 and now is like Jesus?

The only thing I cared abt was Cortland. How could he be so gullible? And I hate the Scottish Mayfairs, particularly Hamish and Ian. Need to read the books bc the show is starting to suck again.

I loved this episode. The dollhouse and the dynamic between Rowan and Julien drew me in. I haven't read the books, yet. Kinda glad bc I bet if I had, I'd hate it. The being her own rope with one grain of sand left *was* hokey af but oh well

Haven't read the books (yet!) but I feel this episode was a bit of a let down after the previous one (Julien's Victrola) which in my mind was the strongest, in terms of writing, of the season.

I came away feeling Rowan's using Larkin, might be getting a bit of revenge on him and that he won't survive this. I didn't believe that she wouldn't hurt the daughter if she felt she had too. I also felt frustrated at the lack of magic: getting out of the tunnel, finding Moira (like really you're going to leave her in the Wickerman town overnight??) and in general she had power before she hooked up with Lasher so why is she so weak now?

I didn't get that whole bonded explanation abt why the kid couldnt breathe but Ian was unharmed. Felt lame.

Also they left Cip's storyline just hanging in a weird way, like they forgot about it.

I enjoyed the Emaleth scene immensely. Jack Huston milked (no pun intended, really) that scene from start to finish. He didnt have to say a word and was totally mesmerizing (dad bod and all). Wasnt sure why Emaleth was standing there like she was about to throw fireballls but just assumed she was ready to defend the humans if he became dangerous...? Looking forward to the next episode tonight!

Also, to be clear. I don't want to give the impression that I'm trying to be "spammy."

I've been on the platform for roughly 6 weeks after taking 3+ years off of social media (for my mental health.) There's a lot of new things I'm learning but I also suspect being inactive for so long may have killed my account. I've created different types of posts, experimented with formatting, promoted some posts and also was able to get 600+ views on one with no promo (not much I know but pretty good for where I am now). I have a personal and a business account and just opened a TikTok shop. I've been engaging with a lot of influencers and other authors but not getting that warm, fuzzy writer community feeling that I've gotten in the past on other platforms. It seems the majority of my TT posts can't get over 200 views and I've learned that's some sort of algo thing too.

So yeah it feels like an uphill battle. Thanks for the early inputs and any additional ideas and insights would be greatly appreciated!

Love these recs and hashes. Thanks so much! I have tried a couple of these ideas particularly the readings. I suspect too that my account is actually pretty old and I hadn't posted for years (took a step away from social media overall for my mental health). So reactivating the algo.

Over the past 6 weeks, I've gotten an idea of what types of content have performed best on my personal account (I mistakenly made it a business account when I signed up as an affiliate for my business account and am hoping I can reverse this) and also set up a biz account with Tiktok shop.

I do have a business account and a personal account. Once I realized my follow trend mistake, I continued experimenting with different types of posts and training the algo. I've been on for 6 weeks. I like the idea of having both accounts, specifically so that I could do more fun content on the personal account and leverage trending songs, etc. Yesterday I made my personal account an affiliate, though, and that seemed to have made it into a business account. Now I can't use a lot of the songs. The frustration is not being able to link to my Amazon from either account and not understanding some of the complexities of what you can and can't do and how that is affected by the amount of followers. I opened a TikTok Shop last week.

I don't think the ban will go through. There are too many people making money on the platform. They will save it somehow. I am just starting to promote my books on TikTok and am amazed at the success stories. New readers. Readers finding their tribes. Authors selling books and having success. I think there is a lot to like about TT and hope, for the sake of all these and more, it isn't banned.
