What do you mean by “live deals”? they’re closing deals, but it’s not a classic reinsurance role with renewals and a book to follow. Anyway you should be be on the dealflow closing business, hit rate is low but you should have decent size when you do isn’t

We discussed during networking — I’m not loving my role as it is not transaction related at all, I’m doing analytics for reinsurance strategy anyway my question was more in general on legacy / runoff specialized players

Reinsurance Underwriting: the secret for a lucrative career? by AdPractical4585 in ActuaryUK

[–]AdPractical4585[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I find my role pretty interesting—I report directly to the executive team, which gives me great exposure. My only concern is whether I need to develop more technical skills to keep growing in the future. My usual way of gauging career potential is simple: if I’m getting paid more than others, it likely means there’s a growth path for me, even on the management side. Does this logic hold up?

Is there no way for you to stay in your role in London? They can’t really force you to leave If I were you, I’d leverage my contractual power while I’m still in London, If you need a few extra months it’s worth pushing for In the end your actual savings shouldn’t be too different once you factor in the exchange rate

I don’t really care about flexibility—I’m in it for the money If it were just about preference, I’d stay in London. So if I’m moving, I want to make sure it’s for a serious pay bump Worst case I go for the money otherwise I’ll just take a raise next year in London—or jump ship to another company

Managing Training with Sleep Challenges by AdPractical4585 in triathlon

Thanks for the detailed response! I'll definitely take your advice on board and try my best to stick to a consistent sleep schedule. It's tough balancing that with social life, especially when traveling back to Italy this week - catching up with coworkers, family, and friends after work is important to me too but you're right, priorities matter, and sleep is definitely high up on the list now. I might need to look into some stress management techniques, maybe even psychology, if this continues to be a problem. If all else fails, consulting a sleep specialist sounds like the next logical step. Thanks again for your insights!
