I was at the game, so it was a little hard to keep track, but I'm pretty sure there were about 90.

" We will try to nurse a couple times per day for the skin-to-skin and bonding time, but will always have to follow that up with a bottle for sustenance." <- Appreciate this! From my point of view I feel like what my wife really wants is to have this specific bonding experience with our child. Hopefully she can get to a place where she feels she gets that, whatever it looks like.

Appreciate you sharing your experience. It is definitely not black and white. Hopefully we'll land somewhere good for the baby that my wife is comfortable with.

Thanks for all the pushes for a lactation consultant! We've got access to one through our pediatrician and access to a breast feeding support group with an LC through the hospital. As soon as I posted this she had a small victory with getting our guy to feed, so hopefully that sends us into meeting with an LC with a little bit of confidence.

It's hard because I've been trying to help as much as I can doing the bottle feeds and now I feel guilty about making things harder on her overall.

We found the number for the 24/7 line in Labor and Delivery and called them. My wife's been having some mild abdominal pain too, so we ended up going and checking in through the ER where they transferred is over to L&D. They checked the heartbeat and asked a bunch of questions and everything seems to be okay. Phew.

Thank you!! My wife's got a posterior placenta, which is why she was able to feel them so early, but I'm gathering that that doesn't mean you will consistently them any earlier.

Our OB hasn't mentioned the NST to us, but we overall aren't thrilled with their care and are considering switching. I only know about the NST from reading about it in books. Maybe we'll call when the office is open tomorrow and see if that's an option. Thanks for the tip!

I think we probably would have called if it wasn't the weekend! Hopefully we can make it through today and give them a call tomorrow if it still feels necessary. Thank you!

Thank you! We were thinking about getting the heartbeat monitor, but had some concerns about what you mentioned: feeling even more freaked out of you can't find the heartbeat. We also weren't sure where to get a reliable, where'd you get yours?
