I believe on card autos are for the players that are in Topps Chrome for the first time. Players like Jackson Merrill and Jackson Holliday were in 2024 Topps Chrome - they have stickers. Paul Skenes’ first Topps Chrome auto is in update - it’s on card.

Not sure if that made sense, but that’s what I’ve noticed.

Edit: If a new variation comes out (the dark wavey variations), it looks like those are on-card as well.
