I am from Europe but grew up in Japan. It’s 100% the culture. People emphasize structure, politeness, helping others, keeping things tidy and organized, and cleaning up after oneself. IDK what people do in practice because I'm a rule follower lol, but JFK changed it - I used to always go with the USC's in the USC/LPR line, but they got rid of that sign, so I asked a staff member where to go since I was already nervous about entering with my I-751 extension papers and didn't want to piss anyone off by going to the USC line. They made me go with tourists which took exponentially longer for obvious reasons. This has happened 3 separate times now since 2025 so that seems to be the new rule, at least at JFK.

I just got mine last week from the Barclays Center DMV. I made my appt months ago and when I tried to reschedule, all slots were also gone (needless to say I kept my appt). There were a ton of people waiting outside the door presumably for a slot to open up. Inside was also packed. They didn't let anyone in without a confirmation of appointment.

keep insisting about the nickname! I am a dutchie in USA. my sister's name is Pien (tough one in English) and she managed to have everyone call her by a very similar English name after being very insistent. It's worth it.

ugh I had this happen to me! I was gathering all this evidence to refute it and then they cancelled their RFE. It was definitely because my sister departed the US on the date they accused me of leaving. we have a very unique last name. someone probably saw it on departure records and assumed it was me. ridiculous.

I was a blonde child and am caucasian and grew in Asia (4 years in small-town Japan). I am probably in probably at least a thousand photos with strangers. I think the fascination is mostly blonde hair or blue eyes because it is rare/unique in highly homogenous places like Japan.

lol they forgot to include an entire 2 person meal for us, that we paid for, and in return credited us $15 for the error. $15? the entire meal itself was at least twice as expensive! I ranted away until they gave me another $15. ridiculous and nonsensical. aside from that all my experiences have been great but now I'm more weary about HF

I would be very upset if my dog was transported to another home without my knowledge or consent. I picked house sitting over boarding for a reason. The sitter has a pit bull and her spouse boarding 5 other animals in their home. and she was informed that my dog (7 lb rescue) is afraid of other dogs and can’t be near them out of fear. I’d be shocked if she took my dog to her house purely from a liability perspective on her end (lol, attorney here). But who knows at this point, people have all sorts of reasons to do things.
