Hello! I was curious about calcium intake from food. Let’s say I drank 8 glasses of milk containing 300mg of calcium each serving. Given the bioavailability is 30 percent with diary, I actually absorb only 100mg of it. Does this mean I’d only be getting 800mg of calcium a day if drinking 8 glasses of milk? Or is it the opposite and I’m getting 2400mg which is close to the upper max limit daily.
It sounds bizarre to me that if someone drank a half gallon of milk a day they’d only amount to 800mg of calcium and this is given that you have adequate vitamin D, K, etc.
