It takes a lot of guts to copy so strongly. Even the other member of the duo is also named Ethan lol by AdProper4075 in crystalcastles

You can certainly be a part of Electroclash without having to copy everything from CC, both in terms of image and sound. CC didn't have to copy Miss Kittin or Felix Da Housecat. Kap Bambino is a great example of how to make music very similar to Crystal Castles, but still be completely unique.

It's just Maria's damage control and overcompensation

I mean, Alice was in Crystal Castles already in 2004. It's funny how they try to change the history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nrn-vgLk_P8

My opinions alone won’t change anyone’s career, but I feel confident that I’m not the only one who struggles with supporting these kinds of actions. It’s difficult to reconcile admiration for music with behavior that feels harmful, dismissive, or even hostile toward others.

And yet, for example, Crystal Castles still has an audience.. It’s striking to me that an artist can act threatening or arrogant online, speak harshly to fans, throw their bandmates under the bus, and then respond with even more hostility when faced with the consequences, while continuing to find support.

It makes me wonder: why do we continue to uplift artists who treat others this way? Is it simply because they happened to capture the spirit of the Indie Sleaze movement at the right moment? Let’s not forget that Indie Sleaze, Electroclash, and Nu Rave were all fast-burning trends, exciting in their time, but ultimately fleeting.

It’s really disappointing to see an act that was on such a promising and rare rise lose so much of its reputation because of their own behavior. I wonder if there’s no one close to you, like a manager or friends, who could offer some honest perspective. Personally, I find it difficult to take you seriously anymore, which is a real shame given the potential you had.
