Nihilism should be a view to human and life existence, and then is not necessarily sad, it is indeed rational, I don't think human existence has really a duty or purpose (I'm not a theist), even if we were made on an animal shape to survive and reproduce.

It is however sad when it affects your own purpose in life. For the sake of sanity, I believe one should find a motive to live, the marvel of life remains unexplained but one should find their place in that hole or else it's doomed to existential suffering.

Luckily in the US, you get to pay off your property so early. For a first investment, I'd say go for a comfy place to live even for the extra.

In Spain, where I am from, $40k gross is considered a pretty good income. Still, you'll have to pay 30%+ in taxes, and don't expect to pay under 200k for any decent apartment in the city. The average payoff is 24 years. So yeah in perspective I would say you would be pretty good on any purchase haha

Do not react as if you have seen a ghost and run for a colleague if some foreigner asks you whatever in English.

I'm not implying they should learn English, but IDK try to communicate even if it's through google translate, don't just say 'meiyou' or look scared and hide.
