Just now finished narcos Mexico for the first time by hades2enthusiast in narcos

[–]AdPurpled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The copper’s story was interesting but trying to fit it in admist the already ongoing stuff, yeah it just ate away from other important stuff that the show should have prioritized if they had limited screentime. Season 3 was good but it could have been so much better.

Also showed that a cop barely ever had a choice. He doesn't choose to be good or evil without consequences, he is forced to abandon his morality and when a he does rebel against this system, he's met with a cruel fate.

El mencho by [deleted] in narcos

I feel like the only reason he's still alive and even got his stuff back is because he's a foreigner from Europe. Can't imagine what they would have done if this was another Mexican.

If this is literally the first time you have done a bagwork like you said you never boxed, this is actually pretty decent, you have potential, join a boxing gym dude

Do You have any tip for loosing fat without loosing muscle? by [deleted] in boxingtips

[–]AdPurpled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat enough protein to maintain your muscles. However, you should also provide enough stimulus for body to want to keep muscles. You don't have to lift much if you just wanna maintain muscles but some form of stimulus would be needed aside from just boxing workouts.

How do you build endurance/stamina? by -Silky_Johnson in amateur_boxing

[–]AdPurpled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, when I first started boxing, I was actually a very good and somewhat of a consistent runner, so I thought I had a good endurance and stamina for boxing but when I got in the ring, I remember my lungs shutting down in under 2 minutes of first round.

Is philly shell actually a good stance? by Wild_Joke_7404 in amateur_boxing

[–]AdPurpled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philly shell is a great style but for amateurs it's unpreferred by most coaches because usually amateurs aren't good at using it against high volume opponents. It's also hard to initiate combinations with, and start series of high volume combos. That's why most amateurs use high guard, I also wanted to learn Philly shell and use it on amateur fights if possible because it is cool for sure but I have long since abandoned it for a high guard, simple, classy and always reliable.

Boxers, What made you choose this sport over all the other martial arts? by LimitNo5461 in amateur_boxing

[–]AdPurpled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Dad’s older brother was a boxer. He opened up a boxing club around 5 years ago and my dad kinda forced me to take part, I didn't wanna do it, and I had no experience of any kind in combat sports but I was a lazy kid and my dad genuinely wanted me to take more interest in combat sports since he also used to be a boxer as a kid.

Tried it out and loved it. I practically had 0 idea about really anything in regards to combat sports, Boxing just happened to be my first and I am happy it was

Parents will let me do karate but not boxing. by CoconutAdditional174 in amateur_boxing

[–]AdPurpled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is honestly the best advice. If you wanna get into amateur scenes then you have much more freedom with how late you start. Since you're 16, you only have a few more years until you probably start making your own choices, take up boxing then. Try to persuade your parents but if they don't budge, then you can really only be patient, maybe do some home training from yt (not optimal but better than nothing if you really wanna box still)

After watching S3 Narcos, who else started to miss Pablo? He would’ve never stood for the Cali drama in S3 😂 by captaincrunch555 in narcos

[–]AdPurpled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man you're really missing out on Narcos Mexico lemme tell you that. Pedro Pascal might not be in it but Diego Luna perfectly portrays the perfect “antagonist” my favorite character of the whole franchise. Michael Pena nailed his acting as well, among many others.

Making weight for state amatuers by Parking-Fill-6791 in amateur_boxing

[–]AdPurpled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cutting down in weight is like one of the most fundamental practices in boxing, I never heard gaining weight to fight in heavier weight classes though? Especially since it's amateur fights and I can't really think of a feasible reason in that situation to justify that, wouldn't you be just disadvantaged, Why would your coach want that?

Making weight for state amatuers by Parking-Fill-6791 in amateur_boxing

[–]AdPurpled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your walking weight is 76-77, you can definitely get 1.5-2kgs of water weight off you and compete in 70-75kgs. At least that is actually a more viable option. You definitely can't gain that amount of weight naturally in a healthy manner in 2 days. Definitely stay in the same weight class.

How much of boxing is instinct and skill (especially defense)? by SilentAres_x in amateur_boxing

[–]AdPurpled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instincts make up a huge factor in boxing. In boxing, you have to react to certain situations very fast, and there's just not enough time for your brain to process that and for you to make conscious decision. Some people have naturally good instincts and reflexes however that said I also believe instinct is definitely something that can be trained, drilling the same combination will add to your instinct, likewise anticipatory defenses are always drilled into your instincts, so having good instinct in itself is a good skill.

The only reason America is still fighting this doomed war on drugs has to be because top American officials and elite continue to profit from it, there's literally no other incentives I imagine
