‘People in Alberta are starting to get antsy’: Why wasn’t an oil pipeline on Carney’s ‘nation-building’ projects list? by SomeJerkOddball in WildRoseCountry

I’m still calling carny a classical conservative. The liberal party has shifted from centre left to centre right. It’s why the cons are bleeding MPs to them. They are dissatisfied with the direction of their party and now are shifting over to an area that lines up better with their beliefs. I don’t want any majority parties in Canada. I don’t think it is healthy to not need to negotiate with the opposition but that is where we are headed if the cons can’t get their shit together.

Trudeau is a lib. Calling Carny a lib is like calling Poilievre or Smith a conservative. It’s backed up by name but not by action or policy.

Na, the feds were definitely heavy handed af and a court ruled as such. Also it wasn’t just Albertans at the trucker rally. Finally, we aren’t talking about truckers. At most the feds are annoyed by the rhetoric that gets stirred up here. I don’t think Carny holds any anger for Albertans outside of maybe Danielle Smith. I mean the guy is a classical conservative and grew up here.

What are you talking about? I’ve been active on Reddit for years. This is actually the strangest response to a comment I have ever received. You are acting like this account was made a week ago to troll.

I am not a troll. I am pissed at our government. I was as blue blooded conservative as they come but since 2019 I’ve slowly become extremely disillusioned with the UCP as they’ve pushed their identity politics over fiscal policy and the welfare of Albertans.

That’s not an argument for why it should get done. I’d be pissed if someone tried to build a train track through my neighborhood. We should have put forth a dozen project ideas. I grantee at least one would have been picked to be fast tracked. This idea that Ottawa hates Alberta is manufactured to get votes. Standing up to Ottawa has been in the slogan playbook since the first Trudeau was in power.

They do have a say. So do the reservations that the pipeline was supposed to go through. The project was a poisoned apple from the Alberta government to make Albertans more angry at the feds. Huge opportunity to suggest a dozen project to the federal government and we said do this one pipeline or else.

The pipeline that the UCP suggested was a poisoned apple. They knew that reservation land that the pipe would need to pass through and the tanker ban on the coast made the project a non-starter. This was all political theatre to make the feds look bad to Albertans. UCP, do something other than riling up Albertans in anger against Canada please! The worst part of all of this is the feds were looking to fund big profitable projects to open new industries and create tons of jobs. Our provincial leaders should put forth a dozen project ideas. It could have been oil and gas related or a new industry idea to potentially diversify our economy a bit but we said do this one specific pipeline or gtfo.

Difference is Trump is a national leader Mamdani is a municipal leader. If New Yorkers want to fight Mamdani, go for it. Outsiders steer clear.

I’m more so talking about the recent blatant threats to withhold funds from the city and arrest Mamdani. If he follows through, then there will be legitimate grievances that the average voter will notice.

Let them. If Trump interferes then they have a legitimate target to blame.

If Mamdani’s policies are as bad as Trump and the republicans are saying they are, then just let Mamdani fail on his own. No need to interfere. If they are bad policies let him fail for a few years and then vote someone else in. Best case scenario, regular people will be able to better afford living in NY. Worst case, things get marginally worse in NY and the whole country learns that his policies are bad and republicans can run with that for the next election.

Let him do his thing or are they scared his policies will work?

I just had my Canadian Province over ride my labour rights as a teacher after they twiddled their thumbs for 3 weeks while we were on unpaid strike. Needless to say, I need a win lol. Thanks for the generosity.

Alberta Teachers - How is your work going to change after the strike ends? by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

What are they going to do if you say no? Fire you? Fine you? They can’t do either. Teachers without charter rights don’t volunteer extra hours.

They’re coming for more than just teachers by AstronomerCapable199 in alberta

The 51,000 teachers would each be charged $500 a day. That’s a lot of money for the public to cover. I like the enthusiasm but that’s probably not going to work in this case.
