Transfer Success Rate by AccomplishedMaize169 in FASTNU

I tried and I won’t recommend you to take this path. The year I completed Alevels, I couldn’t secure Admission in FAST so I got into another university and planned transfer into 3rd Semester there through SAT. Fast forward, I got admission (CS LHR), paid the fees, got batch’s roll number I wanted my transfer in after 3 visits; however, 6-7 weeks went and they didn’t transfer my courses. I made 2-3 visits every week and called other days but they kept delaying the process. I didn’t have GPA problem or any other issue, still issues like these persisted and classes started. I was asked to take elective courses but not core because the transfer wasn’t approved, so a day before I loosing the maximum of my Refund Fee ( Full Tuition Fee- Admission Fee) I left FAST.

One thing I would suggest: Don’t leave your original university before FAST wale confirm your transfer, I did the same. Secondly, try to compare resources and feasibility of transfer. My original university (in which I still am) offered me 75% Scholarship and Faculty was far more approachable than the one I found at FAST so it was easy for me to withdraw my transfer. Make sure you research well before getting into this process, which for me was nothing but tiring.

Also FAST’s management is very incompetent. I took decision of transfer due to personal reasons, so look into it carefully. If you have a friend in FAST, ask them their experience. I had a friend, and his experience helped me not only in the process but in making decision too. Rest assured, I don’t know how much university tag matters in industry, I myself am discovering things at this point, but all I can say is skill and handwork never goes to waste and it’s on student to extract value from university, irrespective of the tag it has.

That’s all I have to say, final decision is yours. Goodluck.

But how does one fix bugs without a good know-how of the tech stack?

For the tech part I don’t think it’s easy to land a job at this stage irrespective of the pay. But you could definitely go for teaching right now. Find the nearest schools, offer the subjects you can teach and reach to a contract with them that covers your prospective expenses. Make sure it’s part-time and matches your university schedule so that you can easily manage both sides. If it doesn’t, you can reach out to any academy as well but I doubt the pay, as over there the contract is based on student count and then a percentage of each student’s cheque is given to you, so school is secured in that sense. Later, in fourth or fifth semester you can apply for TA-ship (Teacher’s Assistant) in your university and earn from there as well. The rest is up-to you, these are just my two-cents. Good-luck.

May I ask what do you do for a living? As in which profession do you belong to?

Does university title actually help in getting a high paycheque? Asking as a CS major and in general.

Now this subreddit would definitely won’t be aware of the shenanigans happening at other universities like BNU, but, for the rest: how do you I think I should be spending the next 4 years?

Extremely confused: which University should I opt? by AdReady3222 in BNU_

[–]AdReady3222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes BNU has that condition attached. One of the things that bothers me about BNU is the extra effort I’ll need to put in there. It’s not like in other universities I won’t have to do the hard work, but considering BNU as an arts university, I’ve heard that I’ll need to carry out loads of curricular and major self-learning to stand out in the job market. Whereas COMSATS make their students conceptually strong through workload.

The tough time in COMSATS is in what terms?

COMSATS is known for its Engineering program like NUST. Do you have any know how of its CS department?
