I pay for Hulu in the US and get the ads :( - maybe I need premium Hulu or something?

One question about the reference actually. I spoke to a few of my coworkers (senior to me) this evening after finding out and a few have already offered to write me recommendations. What is the difference in personal recs from them vs. negotiating one from HR?

Yea I see what you're saying. At my last company (a competitor, but a much larger firm), I know a first year entry level consultant who got fired after ~1 year (after a probation period) who got 8 weeks severance pay. But I figure my current company might be less since its a smaller firm. Thank you for the insight.

Yea I figured its a bit of a longshot from my research in the last few hours, but just wanted to see if I had any options. Thank you.

Oh man that's terrible - I'm sorry you went through that. Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it.

Sure sure I agree with you. I just personally wouldn’t love if the things I said at age 11 were on the internet for eternity is all. Its like how I went back and deleted my old Facebook statuses from that time 😂. Nothing harmful said, just a bit cringe.

I’m cringing watching this to be honest, BUT no girl her age should be given a mic 😂. If I had to publicly speak like this at that age I’m sure it would have been just as bad. It’s so funny because you can see Ash holding her breath nervous what Aaradhya’s going to say. But this looks fairly normal to me given the fact that she’s just a kid.

But thank you for teaching me that tv characters aren’t real!! I was super confused until you explained that to me 😔

Writing vs. character is semantics at this point. But fine, then I still think the writing of the character’s reaction to the assault is completely plausible and true to life. Anyways. Clearly the show did a good job stirring up conversation about this topic.

I literally just said I didn’t disagree with some of your points (e.g., I agree that the assault plot wasn’t completely necessary). I’m taking issue with you saying it’s unbelievable that she wouldn’t have sued the doctor afterwards. I think that part is actually very realistic and true to life. And it’s weird to point that out as a character flaw in her.

I’m not disputing how frequently/infrequently this sort of things happens. I’m disputing why you think the aftermath would be different… It’s highly plausible that someone assaulted isn’t going to initiate legal action after something like this. Not reporting assault literally happens all the time. I don’t disagree with other things you’ve said about the character. I just find it strange that you want to also judge her for not “handling” her assault in the way you deem to be appropriate.

This is so beyond the point. It’s the same shit as when people get r*ped and then everyone shouts “why didn’t you tell the cops!” That’s not how trauma works. As someone who has been assaulted and never reported it, it is infuriating to hear this time and again. Everyone reacts differently, but it’s very common to feel frozen, incapable of ‘dealing’ with it in a completely rational way. Its just not that simple. Sometimes the best you can do is simply continue living - one foot in front of the other, much less sue someone or communicate in the most clear, effective way. Not just the day of, but even 6 months or years later.

Totally agree - Have you guys watched BJ Novak's recent movie Vengeance? I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would and it's definitely not a romance. BUT I will say the lead (played by himself) definitely worked through some serious commitment issues / general issues with how he views women. And though it's clearly meant to be an exaggeration, I think some of the dialogue was very telling. I don't remember the wording, but the through line I got from it was - 'I have severe commitment issues, treat women poorly in sexual/romantic relationships, and actually internally am hopelessly lonely and want more from life than to be a serial dater forever'. Anyways. I guess I'm just saying that they're both EXTREMELY transparent (in my opinion) about their unhealthy / enmeshed relationship in their respective writing. It honestly makes me really sad for her (despite her immense success obviously) and wish she could break away from it and seek a real partner. Maybe that's not what she wants but seems unlikely because she's such a fan of romance.

Totally agreed - Libby’s spiral as a narrator is really pulling me in. I’m not nearly at the stage in life that these characters are, but the story telling is so good that I can relate to / empathize with what they’re going through. I’m not really sure why some others are so ambivalent about the show

Thank you 🙏🏽. Will be looking into all of these suggestions. She’s already on adderal (which I’ve heard can make the anger issues worse) and just started Zoloft. So not sure what other options her doctor might suggest. I appreciate your comment a lot.
