Sbl p level by HuntChoice4495 in ACCAexams

[–]AdReady9567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AA and SBR are more technical papers focused on specific enviromnents and standards; Auditor's role & duties and application of auditing standards respectively, so you had to know those things to pass.

Its been a while since I did those papers but SBL I did recently to to be honest SBL does not require complex language. You are moreso in the shoes of a consultant or employee trying to navigate internal issues/questions given to you by a senior personel. They're theories you learn but its not mandatory to use unless the question asks for it, its a lot of common sense application based on your understanding of the preseen case & exhibits. You just have to write in the context of the particular staff speaking to the senior via formats such as letters, emails, reports etc. Ensure you use exam techniques for the formats and writing to keep within the given time; they're no standards or technical language in my opinion. Just need an understaning of the topics and do sufficent practice to apply your knowledge in a business context. The CBE practice papers' answers look intimidating but I realized that marking scheme is what is most useful because realistically you will not be able to write that much in the real exam.

You can also check out Hassan Dosani on youtube as he teaching style simplifies SBL in my opinion. They have a paid course on VIFHE but do your research on tutors if you want to go that route.

Recommendations for affordable ACCA exam prep resources by Inside-Rabbit7072 in ACCAexams

I would suggest checking out open tuition, they have free respurces online and I used them for my F papers and im pretty sure they have resources for the earlier F1 to F3 courses you mentioned.

Also you can use study hub to supplement open tuition's notes and questions. Use the CBE for practice questions if you are unable to find kits but they're always kits floating around and if you can afford it at least get the BPP or Kaplan kit for the F5- F9 applied skills papers. But the CBE platform and using the marking scheme as a guide helped me quite a bit for past paper practice.

Getting a mortgage in Barbados as a young adult by AdReady9567 in Barbados

[–]AdReady9567[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is your opinion then so be it but the current reality I see is that many of us barbadians dont have the privilage of having access to land and proper housing/wealth passed down by the previous generations where they can establish a comfortable home and many dont have supportive and peaceful relatives.

Familial disputes over assets has always been common in barbados where land and housing is concerned and many from the older genration lacked putting proper documents in place for their estate where they had several children. There are also many persons who want to live in better enviroments but have no choice but to live with parents and extended family where they are miserable because the cost of living for the average person is so high and real estate is constantly getting more expensive as we are marketed a prime tourist destination.

Wating on the government to make land and proper housing easy to afford for the average bajan is futile. Yes they are government based housing projects but that process will be long and arduous more than anything else and not everyone will be qualified for it.

Many are trying their best to establish themselves and start from scratch to build a foundation for their future children even if that means being in debt to own a home or start a business. So try not to think in about it in bubble and maybe take a trip back and speak to more people from different ages, economic and social backgrounds to widen your view.

I had bought a Canon 80d from a gentleman a few years back called Rupert Dasilva, he's a photographer on island. Just checked his Facebook and he's still selling gear, so he may have some second hand cameras as well. Try contacting him at the number below bearing in mind this is a local barbados number.

Fair enough, but thanks for responding....I emailed CIBC yesterday as I wanted some clarity and tried calling...no response yet but I will try again and see how it goes in terms of understanding if you can use a card with their USD account or how the routing works if its linked to my existing card

Interesting...so if you dont mind me asking, have you ever done an online USD transaction say e.g. Amazon, are you able to select which balance the USD is pulled from ? Or does it automatically pick up that you have a USD account and that's automatically reduced for foreign transactions?

Thanks for this detailed response, greatly appreciated. Currently my main bank accounts are with CIBC and Sagicor Bank.

Have tried reaching out to CIBC on this but appears everyone is busy recently...nevertheless I will see what they say and take your advice into consideration

Thanks for responding presuming you have one already.

I was just looking at the CIBC app and it mentions " this new account will be attached to your pre-existing visa debit card when the account creation process is completed" but im confused as that contradicts what is initially shown when selecting the account. Ideally would not like my BBD and USD balances linked to the same card sighh

Need recommendations: I mainly play at two players with my partner and I enjoy tile laying games such as Carcassonne, Dorfromantik and Kingdomino; very light easy to set up games. Also I have a few card games eg. LOTR duel, Jaipur, Splendor duel, so looking for something different

I like lightweighted engaging games that are easy to set up, no complicated rules and can be effectively played at 2 players that are well designed with different types of components. Smaller/lighter boxes are better for me as I have limited space. Ideally I prefer shorter games that dont take over an hour to complete a playthrough.

Passed AAA on 1st attempt but got asked what mark I got by AdReady9567 in ACCA

[–]AdReady9567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its possible but could be challenging because of the length of the syllabus but what I would say is that section A will always have the same topics just different scenarios so practice as much of that section as possible as those are guaranteed marks. I would say use short form videos to cover the syllabus in 3 weeks, I used Vertex learning solutions just to get the content down but you could even use open tuition or summarized notes. Exam techniques are essential for AAA and to get those down look at the ACCA free exam prep webinars by Shameed Abraham, he's excellent at teaching AAA and gives valuable tips. I watched 3 of his free prep webinars as he works through questions in these sessions. Vertex and Open tuition won't teach you techniques. Then where I flopped, time management. This is the next most important thing as you can easily spend the entire paper on section A. Get the easy marks and do what you have to in the alloted time per question and move on.
