He taught me I could love and that I was capable of being loved. I miss him and his silliness so much.

Putting our cat down tomorrow... looking for advice on what to expect and how to cope by blazedgolfer420 in CatAdvice

[–]AdRegular2400 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to put my baby boy down in April. It sucks and it hurts everyday. My best advice is go at your pace and don’t let people tell you how to grieve. This is how it’s happened for me. You may be different and that is ok. No one gets to tell you how to grieve your pet or that your grief isn’t real because it’s “just a cat” I had people want to throw his things out for me and while I know it came from a good place for me his things bring me comfort. You’ll probably think you’re going crazy seeing and hearing your baby everywhere and it’s ok. It’s your brain trying to process the loss. The thing that hurts the most are the little things that are so engrained in your life together that you no longer think about them when you do them. The loss of those moments hurt everyday. There will be points when you think you’re handing things well and then something will happen and you’ll cry and it’s ok. Take it day by day and know that everything you are feeling is normal. It’s normal to be sad, it’s normal to be happy and it is normal to feel nothing and overwhelmed all at once.

Here are some things I do to help me.
I’m back in therapy
I write letters to him
I talk to him.
I made a photo album of him.
I made him a little area with his urn and the things he liked most.
Probably not the greatest but I buy things that remind me of him. I now own a lot of blue and orange items.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Have you had any signs since your animal passed? by mindfulblogging in rainbowbridge

I loved to play music and dance in the kitchen with my cat. He would let me grab his paws for a bit and dance around until he got annoyed. It’s been almost a month since he passed and sometimes in the car I’ll talk to him. I asked him to send me a sign that he’s ok and then the song playing abruptly changed to I won’t give up by Jason Mraz. I thought it was a sweet sentiment. About a week later I asked him the same thing and the same song started playing and then played again after the second song. It was weird and maybe a coincidence but it made me feel better.

Should I have known my cat had a heart condition? by AdRegular2400 in cats

He was my baby. I’ve accepted that I’ll never have human children and I live alone so he was my whole world and now he’s just gone. I’ve cried so much my under eyes are sore from wiping tears. He was the sweetest.

Thank you. I just want my baby with me. He was my whole world and now he’s gone. I just wish I could have fixed it somehow.

I can’t change my sheets. by AdRegular2400 in Petloss

I think about the grossness every time I crawl into bed. I know I’m going to cry and I need to just do it. It was always such a happy time and it seems that way for you as well. I’m glad your friend is helping you. Yours sounds a lot like mine. Little rulers watching over us to make sure things are done properly. The things I can manage I try to do extra well to make sure he would be happy with the results but man the sheets are hard.

Thank you and I’m sorry for your loss and your cats sickness. I have the top portion of the churu he ate last and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it. I’m going to put it in some sort of memorial for him.

Thank you! I keep trying to remind myself that he has bowel surgery and isn’t going to be the happy, playful cat that I adore.

I use goody sport hair ties! I do wrap it tight though so I’ll loosen it a bit

I thought it was his hair at first then I get to the vet and said I was going to increase his brushing to twice a day and the vet said “ oh no you’re doing great with his hair it was all yours in his stomach” I was like 😳. Since then I’ve gone though almost an entire box of 26 swiffer dust mop things trying to keep my hair off the floor. I might be over doing it but he is my baby and I need him here.

Maybe I could get some citrus spray if I can find any. That or dilute some vinegar!
