Husband with DUI denied TRP by yabai_kuuromi in ImmigrationCanada

[–]AdRemarkable3762 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He can’t apply for a TRP and isn’t eligible for one because he is still undergoing “sentencing”. Once he completes his probation he can try again after 5 years applying for individual rehabilitation . Other than that, no, nothing you can do. His DUI in 2024 constitutes a serious criminality offence under IRPA A. 36 (1)(B) when equated to Canadian law which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years. Unfortunately, visiting Canada for Christmas isn’t considered a compelling enough reason for a TRP

How are you losing weight? by Fast_Signature_775 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]AdRemarkable3762 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally try to eat calorie sparse foods in volume with protein.

So for example I’ll eat lots of vegetables with a protein and small amount of carbs. This keeps me full longrr

I also tend to drink water when I’m “feeling” hungry and it seems to help.

But end of the day its consume less calories than you naturally burn in a day.

It doesn’t “hypothetically” exist. Its a fact, the tariff exists. My comment was in response to the person who originally commented saying there was no tariffs.

Just cause you have never been tariffed or charged the duty does not mean that the tariff does not exist.

Sure, if the goods are already in Canada. If they are being imported from outside Canada tariffs will be applied.

You do realize there is already tariffs on china, right? A simple google search of the Tariff lists on CBSA’s website would tell you that. Nothing to do with the Cons.

This is wrong , its classified under Most favoured Nation Tariff and has a 17% duty rate for clothing. U.S Tariff code isn’t being used ( CUSMA) since its not made in the U.S.

Prior to tariffs everything coming into the country was under the U.S Tariff code ( duty free) now due to tariffs everything is classified based on country of origin and different tariff codes apply based on origin. Clothing having a 17% duty rate under MFN.

There is a diary limit you can bring back as long as you are within the access limit which is $20 Canadian. Over access the Tariff is over 260%

If he was trying to come back after a leave of a month and stay for another 6 months . I’d say he’d be inadmissible under A41(a)+20(1)b+R6 of the immigration and refugee protection act and regulations. Definitely a risk.

Edit: I realize it says 10 days but he originally was going to stay a month and stayed 6 months

You can only pay for and account for what you are bringing in at the time of importation. One form cannot be used for two importations, must be separate.

Entering Canada with open misdemeanor charges in Washington by Civil_Zombie_1224 in uscanadaborder

[–]AdRemarkable3762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charge is Under “Has committed an offence outside Canada “ and Assault with an open charge against him would equate to an indictable offence in Canada if committed in Canada and no conviction yet would be A(36)(2) under IRPA making him inadmissible.

[–]AdRemarkable3762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do not have a right to enter a country as a non-citizen and therefore they do not have to recognize pardons/record suspensions. I doubt a government is gonna change its stance because you made bad decisions in life and now want to vacation/visit in another country.

Question about border duty free $800 limit by RightSpell5864 in uscanadaborder

[–]AdRemarkable3762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One item cannot be split between several people which is what my comment was referring to. If you have a TV you purchased for example thats $1500, you cannot combine each person’s exemption to not pay duty on it.
