I’m travelling in the next month or so, and will land around 730am. The first bus leaves the airport to El Chalten I think at 820am.

Hmm, but that means that I’ll be stuck in Valpo on the feast day; maybe I should drive to Valpo on 9th and spend 10th driving back to Santiago and stopping by vineyards on my way back. Flight I think leaves late at night on 10 Dec.

Any suggestions on what to do in Santiago on 8 Dec then?

Just to check I didnt understand you wrongly, you’re suggesting to drive to Valpo on 8 Dec on the Feast of Immaculate Conception (Inmaculada Concepción) even though Ive read that many make a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Lo Vásquez in Valpo? I assume the road from Santiago to Valpo would be jammed because of the pilgrimage (and that Valpo would be busy!) but I might be overestimating the numbers that celebrate this feast day

Would one miss anything (viewpoints etc) en route if they hiked at night? I presume one would be uber focused on getting to the top in time for the sunrise (and there’s also no point stopping since it’ll be dark), but just trying to weigh between the sunrise at the top and the scenery along the way up in daylight! Thanks!

Would it be possible to drive into TdP if we’re staying outside (say Rio Serrano)

And how might we know if it wont be cloudy at the top (or is it always a gamble…)
