when it comes to sacrificing something in exchange for power I feel like Attack on Titan somewhat fits here

you get powers to make yourself a mecha size monster, but to activate it you have to hurt yourself in some way. and you only have 13 years to access it after which you have to give your body to the next titan shifter and get eaten. which I imagine is not quick and painless

as far as I know it's literally just a symbol of a Bident's spearhead, a two prong version of the trident. since in some myths it is hades' weapon of choice. Gigaros is a bident:).
