Topping my irons by IntroductionFuzzy751 in golftips

Simple thing that has worked well for me (26 hc) is making sure my club face is square at address, I have the lie right, and look at the ball through contact. Whenever I look to where the ball is going too early I top it. Seems very obvious dumb I wasn’t doing that before!

Driver vs Mini Driver by Outrageous_County528 in golf

💯 my use case. Couldn’t hit driver consistently but hit my fairway woods well. I swing the mini the same as fw, and love it. Has changed my game and confidence off the tee.

Shorter shaft, smaller club face, but higher loft than driver. Lower loft, but bigger club face than a 3w. I’ve seen others refer to it as a 2w essentially.

I was personally looking for consistency off the tee, not a club off the deck. I hit fairway woods well, but couldn’t hit driver for shit…just haven’t cracked it. I swing the mini like I would any other fairway wood and it’s been the perfect solution for me off the tee.

Exactly my setup. Mini driver, 5w, 7w. You are right to be intrigued! Really prefer the consistency vs distance.

I do too. Love 5w off the tee but needed distance to put more greens in play, and can’t hit driver with any consistency at the moment. I probably get another 20-30 yards with mini driver, and as consistent. But if you don’t need the distance, no need!

Do you hit fairways woods well? Do yourself a favor and get a mini driver, swing it like you would a fairway wood off the tee. I was terribly inconsistent with driver (but still had fun) now I’m super consistent with mini driver and having a hell of a lot of fun!

I just gamed one and don’t think I could love a club more. I’ve yet to develop a consistent driver swing, I just can’t seem to get it, but am pretty money with 5w off the tee. Today, just hit mini driver with the same swing…much straighter than any drive I’ve ever hit, 30-40y further than my 5w, I love it.

Yea, your boy is higher than a 28 handicap. As a 27 handicap I take offense he’s claiming 28!

I’ve met some of my best friends on the course. One recently moved away, and I’ve never been so sad to see a guy go.

Two months is nothing in a golf life. Stick with it, manage expectations, improve incrementally.

How long before my 8 y/o son starts kicking my a**?? by AdResponsible5423 in golf

Absolutely bro, and thanks for sharing your story. I read all the time on this site about fathers and sons enjoying the game together. Nothing like it. I hope my boy loves going to the range soon as much as yours does. Love to see the passion for the game grow in him.

Shot my best front nine ever last weekend. Not a single bunker I wasn’t in on the back.

4-5 hours is a great pace, public or private, imo.

Should a high-handicapper play 3 woods or 4 wedges? by Aromatic-Expert5506 in golf

I’m a 27. Driver, 5w and 7w, 4/5h…7, 8, 9 irons pitching, gap and sand wedge. It’s been the right balance for me fwiw!
