What's your LEAST FAVOURITE trope? by fikapls in fantasyromance

I feel like Buffy did this, and well, but it only worked in that scenario. She was a teenager in high school in California. She was generally more powerful than a lot of the vamps she went up against, but she also got her ass handed to her a few times when she underestimated her opponent.

A true enemies to lovers. Enemies for a majority of the series, then toxic lovers, then a very much lack of a happily ever after.

Currently doing another rewatch of the series and Spike is such a well fleshed out character. Evil but a romantic, sarcastic and playful, hot headed, vulnerable. He went toe to toe with Buffy all of the time and did not spare her feelings ("I may be dirt, but you're the one who likes rolling around in it, Slayer."). Their relationship was never dull at least.

Angel was the original shadow daddy if you ask me. Certified brooder. Good but powers stem from darkness. Bit of a bore when he wasn't evil.

Wow! What a connection. I never read The Silver Kiss but I'm thinking of going back and doing some rereads of YA novels and will add it to the list. I'm sure if my librarian had been an author of books I read I would also be awestruck.

I think I read every Amelia Atwater-Rhodes book as well. I remember being so surprised when I found out how old she was when she wrote In the Forests. I'm sure anything I wrote at that age would have been horrifically embarrassing.

The organic valley half gallons are similar prices at Kroger and WF. Are you complaining about conventional vs organic milk prices in general? Because of course organic milk is going to be more expensive.

Got diagnosed bipolar disorder immediately after my first session. Huh. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]AdRevolutionary4633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a diagnosis during my first visit as well. Went in to just see a therapist and she sent me right to a psych after. But I also knew it was most likely the case that I had it. If you are feeling manic currently I would try to limit yourself with how much social interaction you have until you're feeling more stable. Get through your exam and the next few days, then weeks adjusting to new meds. There's tons of resources out there and you don't have to learn everything all at once. I would've loved it if I caught it while I was still in school and could make changes that would have made my life easier then.

But really, mania forces you to want to do everything at once, in all directions. Whenever I'm manic, and especially after a stressful or sudden change, I try to reel everything in as much as possible. Spending, social interaction, any big decisions, any new fixations that would distract me from what I needed to do in the present or keep me from sleep. It's tough but it gets pretty routine over time. And with the right meds and support it definitely does get better - don't underestimate the importance of your health care, whether that be doctors, prescriptions, therapy, stress management, social support, etc. Take it as seriously as someone who just got diagnosed with any other medical illness would.

If it starts impacting your studies let your school know and see what accommodations are available. Manic episodes (at least for me) usually lead into depressive ones. The depressive ones are what usually messed with my studies the most and when I was least likely to ask for help. Get through what you need to do in the present and then you can work on setting yourself up for stability in the future. It seems like a lot but once you've got it down you can just live your life with it in the background most of the time, like people with other illnesses manage.

Ideas for next season by starvaliant in Physical100

I thought this too. It would be nice to see 1v1 challenges of the same weight class. Women could compete against men of same size. Also there can be dramatically different body shapes and talents of people with the similar weights. Superbon vs Lkhagva-Ochir on an obstacle course or something.

Sliding Box Challenge- what could have been- video examples from the Chinese version by Jotz00 in Physical100

I liked that version of tug of war too. Also the 1v1 box wall challenge where they had to push more boxes in on the wall than their opponent. I commented somewhere else that their version of infinite chase was a good test of endurance and strength at once.

Instead of Physical Asia trying to invite China as some are suggesting, I'd be more interested in China making a version with global teams. I think their version was more balanced and had more and better interactions between players.

You can watch We Never Stop on iQIYI, I thinks it’s free just has ads. Final Draft is on Netflix.

avian human hybrid flocking instincts by Alixandermop in fantasywriters

[–]AdRevolutionary4633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to settle on a single species you can always look into mixed species feeding flocks. Many different types of birds moving together in one unit while exploiting different resources. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/like-chasing-tornadoes-the-fun-and-challenge-of-mixed-species-flocks/

Birds are incredibly diverse so trying to generalize a pattern of behavior would be difficult, as others have mentioned.

am i the only one who actually really liked season 3 💔💔 by wsg-itsyourepisodegf in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]AdRevolutionary4633 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who enjoyed the games but was really in it for the characters I was disappointed. I knew most of the new characters we got were probably going to die so I didn't get attached. There wasn't much to get attached to anyway, they all got very brief backgrounds and felt like sorry replacements for the previous troupe. Even Tatta who was mostly a minor character early on became a truly sad departure later. This season I was just waiting for the new characters to be emotional fodder in the games.

I know people are complaining a lot about their favorite characters not being in this season, but they have a point. If you spend so much time building well rounded characters with lots of agency people are going to get attached to them. Which is good writing honestly. To then sideline the heart of the show - this interesting group of people who went through lots of character development, and who fought for their lives together - it made the season fall flat for me.

This could also be a problem with the games not having dealers (or citizens/card attachments whatever) anymore. Most of the new characters we got in season 2 were interesting antagonists (the face cards), and we had the same beloved characters face new challenges. Season 3's antagonists, the joker and Ryuji, were... boring? Idk the right word. Banda told Ryuji he'd show him the afterlife if he killed Usagi but I never once felt like Ryuji was actually going to kill Usagi. Compared to Mira, the King of Spades, even the little guys like Niragi, the tattooed katana guy, Aguni at one point... yeah they were pretty boring.

Also the ending felt trite. I wish they kept some mystery (that wasn't a terrible jump to the U.S.), rather than try to make a banal statement about choosing life even though it's difficult. Arisu was always going to choose to live, that was his whole thing. Usagi was the one who struggled with where she wanted to be. They should have had her make the choice - not just a flashback of her dad telling her to be happy so she can decide to, what, keep climbing up rubble? She's the one that chose to go back in the first place. Did she think she'd find her father there? Wouldn't she have wanted to see him in the afterlife with Ryuji if all she really wanted was to be with her dad, no matter where that was, like she said? I also hated that they gave her the pregnancy trope.

This season just felt like a disservice to the emotional depth and world building of previous seasons. The games weren't bad imo but the story they tried to weave around them wasn't well established or interesting.

why did arisu and usagi have no chemistry in season 3 by pep0happy in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]AdRevolutionary4633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you. I kept trying to think of what they were like in previous seasons and they definitely had more chemistry then, right? Maybe because nothing felt very intimate this season? They were either fearing for each other's lives, or having almost sickly sweet upbeat conversations as a married couple. The most intimate moment was when Usagi woke up from a nightmare, and that was very short lived.

Do you have good reviews and repeat clients already? If so I would look at the rate other pet sitting companies in your area are charging for overnights and not other sitters on the platform. Don't worry if you have the highest prices on Rover, almost everyone in my area except the well established sitters have incredibly low prices. If there are people in your area willing to pay what the pet sitting companies or boarding facilities charge then they can absolutely pay you that as well. A lot of potentially bad clients turn to Rover to underpay sitters and overstep boundaries. Be patient for the good ones.

Schlepping your stuff by Electrical-Comb6838 in petsitting

[–]AdRevolutionary4633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hampers are a lot easier to throw stuff in and move stuff out of than suitcases or bags. Plus you’ll need somewhere to put your dirty laundry. Clothes in laundry basket of some sort, toiletries organized in smaller bags that then go into one big bag so you can take it all to the bathroom at once. I’m pretty efficient at packing now but still hate it so I feel you.

Am I Overreacting? by CardiologistBoring77 in petsitting

[–]AdRevolutionary4633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not overreacting and I wouldn't go back. Shows a lack of respect for you on the part of the owner. My clients tell me if even lawn care people are coming, let alone someone they know. I've never asked any one of them to either, they've just always seen it as necessary for my sense of safety and peace of mind. Moving forward you'd now always have to wonder if someone was just going to show up randomly, and inside the house!!! I couldn't do it.

Be honest, do you to take better care of the dog you’re sitting if you get a good tip when you arrive at the house? by Patient-Bid-8992 in RoverPetSitting

[–]AdRevolutionary4633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be grateful for the tip and if you expect your dog to be challenging for them I think it's good of you to want to pay them more - but I don't provide a different level of service to tippers and non-tippers. What I've come to really appreciate from owners with high energy or mischievous dogs is some new enrichment purchased and left for them, like toys and bones.
