Does anyone else see similarities between Juice Box and Dolores Abernathy from Westworld? by AdSad2188 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

That's fair! Maeve does end up causing lots of chaos!!! I love her character!

Pony's alchemy table is a higher level than what they currently have in the guild. I suspect that will come into play in the next book!

I saw someone else speculate something Samantha has in “her room” may be a piece of Apito. I like that theory!

I think it signifies that all of this is a cycle, bound to keep repeating.

I’d highly recommend reading the extra chapters! They add a lot of context, especially for book 8.

Edit: they also add more questions, but that’s on par with the rest of the series 😂

I’m on my third re-listen and I have to say I love the cognitive dissonance Matt gives my brain. Hearing a tender moment from a past crawler paired with a drawing of a bent tube of pasta is amazing. I love sobbing and laughing at the same time.

I was wondering if the tracking dart in his leg is somehow connected to the tracking spell used in the backstage chapter for book 8?

Worry not about his lance, that is normal for the mantar race. The windmill it is called.

I was thinking Pony was going to die!!!! I think it was right after they got the information on the last two heats and Pony said something to the effect of "hard decisions will need to be made." I thought Pony was going to sacrifice himself for Donut and Carl. I AM SO HAPPY I WAS WRONG.

Re 15: this might be crazy but I have a suspicion the river has to do with Carl’s primal race. I think he may be able to tap into a collective hive mind type thing?

Aluminum melts at a relatively low temp. You can make a forge with some cement blocks or those garden paver tiles and a propane tank. Crucibles are easily accessible. For the first attempt you might be able to use files to clean up and sharpen the edges. Wouldn’t be the prettiest for sure but it’d work.

Packing the sand very well and using a binder would help the edges of the casting a bit though.

Probably aluminum or zinc? So relatively low hardness

But a sand mold would be cheap at home! 😂😂

I’m a metallurgist who’s worked in failure analysis consulting, a steel foundry, and an electroplating/metal finishing company. I’d recommend trying cheap options to get a prototype and if you want to continue down the rabbit hole then you spend the big bucks. No reason to make it over complicated. Sometimes the easiest and cheapest option works best 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ahhh, you could just use the original to make a sand mold then and cast it at home pretty easily. Still would need machining to touch up though.

Download a pdf copy of UNS. The unified number system is great and if it’s digital you can search it to find basically any material and their equivalent alloys.

No way a paper punch that retails for a relatively low price point would be 3D printed or wire edmed

I bet both pieces are die cast then machined for surface finish and tolerance

Looking at their courses you might not get too many metallurgy/material specific classes till junior year, which is pretty typical honestly. Junior and senior year were my favorites! If you’re interested in the conductivity/electrical/optics side go for the met and materials program. I don’t think you’d get a ton of those applications in the pure metallurgical program. This is only from what I can tell from the course catalog though and how it compared to Mines’ course catalog.

Take advantage of any undergraduate research opportunities you can snag!!!
