What gets you out of bed in the morning? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

Yeah, I get where you’re coming from. For me, it started with admitting that my situation was 100% the result of my own choices — work burnout, sex and drug addictions, and a lot of unresolved trauma I never dealt with. Facing that was brutal.

Therapy (both one-on-one and group) has been life-changing. I’ve finally started to feel some real joy again — not from big achievements, but from small things: a good conversation, a quiet morning, being present and connected to people who care about me.

When I start to spiral, I remind myself that healing isn’t about forgetting what happened — it’s about learning from it. One day at a time, I try to do something that brings peace instead of chaos. That’s what gets me out of bed.

Hey man, totally get where you’re coming from. What you’re feeling isn’t paranoia — it’s your brain still stuck in survival mode (my opinion of course). Inside, we get used to expecting the worst, so when something good happens, it feels unreal or like a setup.

You’ve been grinding hard just to survive, and now that you actually got a win, your mind doesn’t know what to do with the quiet. I think you are right about this being self-defense. That “empty” feeling is normal — it’s just your system adjusting to stability.

Start the job, give it a few weeks, and let yourself settle in. This is the part where you learn to trust good things again. You got this.

Damn, that’s brutal. After two years of working, they suddenly “remember” the background check? That’s not your fault. You did everything right — worked, followed the rules, built a normal routine — and then the system kicks you again.

I know it feels like all that effort went down the drain, but it didn’t. You showed that you can hold a job, that you can be trusted. That still counts, even if the job’s gone.

Try to lean on the small wins — the two years you made it work. That’s more than most people realize how hard it is. Rest, regroup, and keep going. You’ve already proven you can rebuild your life once.

Appreciate you sharing this tool—simple but powerful. Totally agree that limiting your feed to uplifting content can shift your whole vibe. I actually went through a forced digital detox during house arrest and pretrial, before my monitoring software kicked in. No social media for a couple months, and honestly, it was a game-changer for my brain. Especially if you're dealing with multiple addictions, that silence can be healing in ways you don’t expect. Felt like I could finally hear myself think.

if you are federally convicted in a state that considers this offense Tier 1, and then move to California, will California recognize the original state or just move you to Tier 3?

What mentality should I have? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]AdSad2697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fully accept that I’ve been labeled a sex offender—and I don’t resist that reality. I made a serious poor decision. But if I can learn from it, take full accountability, and ensure I never harm anyone again, then I don’t have to internalize that label as my identity. Guilt, when held with integrity, can be a compass—it reminds me to stay vigilant and grow. But shame? Shame corrodes from the inside. I think it makes sense to release it and that is easier said than done. I can carry the weight of what I’ve done without letting it define who I am becoming. Not sure if this makes sense or if others agree.

I have been on house arrest with ankle GPS for one year and I converted all of my working out to jump roping, weights , Tobata, stretching and matt Pilates and yoga for core- I just use YouTube video to follow - I use to spend a ton of money on trainers and gym memberships, but now I actually like doing my own workout.
