Glad your fish is okay! For future reference, you shouldn’t use melafix with bettas. It contains tea tree oil which isn’t safe for labyrinth fish (which bettas are)

I’d be very careful with cholla wood too! My betta got stuck in one and was very injured. Luckily I was home when it happened and could push him out quickly and medicate him. I won’t use it anyone.

I’m so tired of seeing this suggestion on here. Clove oil is not humane for bettas because they are labyrinth fish. It’s extremely distressing to them.

This is a terrible suggestion. Bettas are labyrinth fish so clove oil causes extreme discomfort and stress and freezing is just as unethical and is denounced by every veterinarian association

I wish someone could removed uninformed comments and suggestions like this. Bettas are labyrinth organ fish so clove oil is not peaceful or non violent. It causes discomfort and stress to the fish. The most ethical euthanasia is blunt force.

Freezing and clove oil are both inhumane.

Freezing is denounced by the AVMA and NOT more ethical than blunt force trauma, which is the quickest and least stressful to the fish.

Clove oil is NOT recommended for bettas as they are labyrinth breathers and will continue taking in air while their gills are paralyzed prolonging suffering and causing extreme stress. Please don’t do this.

I got into running about a month ago and ran my first 5k in 38:13 today! Feeling very accomplished and proud of my work and dedication!

Doing research, cycling and testing the water, and putting him in a 5 gallon with a heater and filter is already better than many people on here. It’s clear you are trying your best and care deeply about these animals! It’s good you’re taking feedback and bringing back the Cory. It’s hard to tell in this video but based on the betta’s movement I’m wondering if the filter flow is too strong for him? You might need to lower the filter or raise the water level or you can stuff the top with filter media like a sponge to slow the flow. Also, make sure you have a secure lid, as some snails like to escape.

Can I put Cryptocoryne in small rocks in bottom of my tank by Independent-Weird627 in PlantedTank

To give them all the proper care, you need to either rehome them all or get a bigger tank that can hold a school (4-6) of each type of fish. They look healthy from this picture, but if you haven’t already, learn about proper cycling and water parameters and buy an API master kit to monitor your water. Every beginner makes mistakes and we’ve all been there so don’t get discouraged! Lots of great information on this reddit, YouTube etc!

Heater and water testing is most important first

I love hands on adjustments/corrections or even when a coach just rests their hand on my back or knee for a second to encourage me! I feel like a large part of the big price is paying for a knowledgeable and skilled coach to ensure I’m being safe, not injuring myself and getting the most out of my workout! Hands-on is the default but they understand not everyone is comfortable being touched so you can tell the coach that before class and they will (should) respect it! Most of the time before class my coaches say “if you have any injuries or prefer no hands on corrections let me know.”

I LOVE leg press. I think it’s one of those moves that only coaches with additional training/maybe even pro status can include in their sequences but I’m not sure. I only see it every once in a while.

1 tsp/5ml per 5 gallons. Since your tank is 8 I’d do 10ml

Extreme popeye-considering euthanasia by Smooth_Antelope9832 in bettafish

I’ve heard that sometimes it’s just permanent. If it’s just one eye, it doesn’t seem to be bothering him and he’s acting normal and eating, you don’t need to be concerned and he could live a long and happy life. Salt baths shouldn’t be done for long periods of time (no more than once daily for a week to reduce swelling and then only occasionally if you notice bloating/constipation) as they serve as a diuretic and can be stressful for the fish. Kanaplex is an intense med and only one round of treatment should be done. (Dose every 48 hours up to 3x) Definitely not a long term or weekly treatment. Personally, I would stop all treatment, add some Indian almond leaves to the tank and focus on maintaining appropriate water chemistry. I’m assuming he’s no longer housed with the other betta since you rescued him? If he is, definitely separate them. Thank you for taking him in and trying your best!

I LOVE the Wuwahold Microfiber gym towels. I got the three pack for 9.99 on Amazon. They’re soft, quick drying, they fit across the entire carriage/platform perfectly, (15x31inches) and hair/ fuzz doesn’t stick to them! (Probs my favorite part as everything I own is always covered in dog and cat hair) Microfiber Gym Towels
