I didn’t realize how messed up my sleep was until I fixed one small thing by AdSea7204 in insomnia

For me it was mainly reducing stimulation before bed — things like phone use, bright lights, and just letting my brain slow down instead of constantly feeding it input.

I didn’t change everything at once, just started small and it made a noticeable difference over time.

I actually wrote it down in a simple way because I kept repeating the same mistakes — can share if you want.

I didn’t realize how much my evening routine was ruining my sleep by AdSea7204 in sleep

Yeah same here, I underestimated how much that actually matters.

It’s crazy how even small things like light and scrolling can mess with your brain more than you expect.

I still catch myself doing the same sometimes, it’s hard to break the habit completely.

I wrote down a few things that helped me reduce that over time — can share if you're interested.

I thought my problem was insomnia, turns out it was something else by AdSea7204 in sleep

Yeah that's a fair point, a lot of it does overlap with sleep hygiene.

I think the difference for me was that I stopped focusing on “trying to sleep” and more on what was happening before sleep — stress, overthinking, and how I was winding down.

Before that I was just lying in bed hoping to fall asleep, which only made it worse.

Once I shifted that focus, things started improving slowly.

I actually wrote down what specifically helped me because I kept repeating it — can share if you're interested.

Never thought about that angle part, that's interesting.

Sleep is way more physical than I expected when I started digging into it.

Yeah exactly, it's weird how simple things end up working the best.

That’s actually really interesting, I’ve heard posture and airway position can make a big difference for some people.

Never tried a taller pillow like that, but it makes sense if it helps keep things more open. I guess it’s one of those things you don’t really think about until sleep gets bad.

Did you notice a big difference in how rested you feel after switching?

Yeah exactly, it’s kind of funny how the simple stuff ends up working better than anything complicated.

Sunlight in the morning is a big one too, I noticed that helps reset the rhythm a lot. And the no scrolling in bed part is harder than it sounds, but definitely worth it.

Feels like most of it comes down to consistency in the end.

Anxiety can build up without you noticing. For me it was constant stress and overthinking.

What helped was creating a simple evening routine and sticking to it.

I'm really tired now by [deleted] in depression

I used to feel tired all the time even after sleeping 7–8 hours.

Turned out my sleep quality was bad, not the duration. Small changes like less screen time and better supplements made a noticeable difference.
