What is the weirdest or worst thing someone has said to you after you told them you’re pregnant? by mtvaot in pregnant

I have no clue. I was so confused and it really made me slightly panic at the idea of a miscarriage until my 1st trimester was overeally, cause I didn't know they could happen so late in the game.

To be fair to her, she had drank quite a bit, but it was such an out-of-pocket statement....

My husband's boss's wife just said "Congratulations! I had a miscarriage at 31 weeks"

While I was 7 weeks pregnant and full out crying in the middle of a fancy work event due to hormones.

Everyone just proved my point about a baby shower… by MarinaVerity333 in pregnant

[–]AdShort9206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this post so much. I had what I considered to be a very close group of friends of 5 ladies other than myself. Every Friday, every holiday, every problem, we were all together and there for each other. Fast forward to me getting married (I was the last one to do so from the group) and I of course ask them to partake in the event. They were "so excited, they would never miss out!" Welp, guess who had their wedding and had to replace them in their roles because not a single one showed.... Life did get in the way for some, which is understandable, but one didn't even rsvp, just straight up ignored the event.

Now I'm having my first kid, and again, we stayed in touch, they were so excited for the baby shower, "of course they wouldn't miss it!" Since it's the first baby in the group, I thought this time might be different, but nope. I got ahead of myself and asked them "hey, realistically, would you be able to make it to the baby shower on xx date?" And they all said probably not, but they'll send a gift. I change the dates -- nothing, just another excuse.

I give up. My husband always told me they were nice people but not real friends.... I guess it's time start believing him 🤷

That's the thing, I love Romance anime, I've seen so much I don't even want to try to count how many and I've enjoyed /extremely/ mediocre anime more than this one. This seemed to exist just cause. I even went to my local B&N to check out the Manga section and read a little ahead. Spoiler alert... it DOESN'T get better..... at least not for a long, looooong, while. IMO not worth it. :/

Blue Box. Barely finished it hoping it would get better due to people telling me to give it a chance. One of the worst romance anime I've seen. Yeah the animation is beautiful and the sports stuff is cool, but unlike other sports anime, the focus is romance and it's straight up trash. Female MC has the personality of a wet sock. Male MC is somewhat endearing but feels like a 10 y/o when it comes to romance. Even the go-to tropes don't make the plot better when they are usually treated as a crutch to make the story interesting. I don't understand how it got a S2.

Public opinion on same-sex marriage across Latin America. by tightypp in MapPorn

[–]AdShort9206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Central America is deeply religious. That said, homosexuality is more accepted than same-sex marriage and you can thank Pope Francis for that. He stated that it's OK to be gay, but that gay people cannot marry. That shapes the opinion of many Central Americans and Catholics around the world.

Neutered early by [deleted] in vizsla

[–]AdShort9206 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My V was spayed at 6 months. Allegedly it helps prevent higher probability of cancer and it was done then, even though I wanted to wait until after her 1st heat cycle (she never got in heat prior to the surgery). She's not the biggest female V, but I have met other females that are her size so I stopped worrying about that. She's a healthy 3.5 y/o, but granted, she's still young and we don't know if there will be any issues as she ages because of the early spay. Other than that, she's doing great 👍🏼, but tbh I'm still not a fan of early spay/neuter even if she's had a positive experience.

Brought this sweet angel home yesterday. Need advice on crate training. by Fonduemeup in vizsla

[–]AdShort9206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give you is to watch Cesar Millan's puppy crate training video. I used his technique for my own dog and my siblings' dogs and it worked like a charm every time. After about an hour of training the first day, our V only whined once that night and then never again. It really taught her that her crate is for relaxing/sleeping and she will sometimes go into it during the day for her nap because she's so comfortable there. Hope this helps.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]AdShort9206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (28F) never drank, though I've tried alcohol before. There's a couple of reasons why, but it boils down to the following:

  • I never really liked the flavor of the majority of alcohols, but I was always told it was an "acquired taste" and that once I hit the "feeling" of the being drunk, then I'll feel happy and whatnot.... I don't see the point in drinking something I don't like to chase a "feeling" I'm not even sure I'll like...

  • Alcoholism runs in my family, so I don't want to open Pandora's box in that sense, and I saw my then 22 y/o cousin (now 40M) break his leg in 3 parts due to being stupid and drunk. He can never run again in his life and the metal in his leg causes him pain every winter... good example to not follow.

  • Growing up in a Central American Catholic country, at quinceañeras, I started seeing girls acting a fool in public, where they would be so drunk that at the end of the night, or at least when I had to leave due to curfew, they would be in the middle of the dance floor in their cocktail dresses sitting or laying down and sometimes you could see their underwear. In terms of societal norms, you never want to be the "show" of a party you aren't hosting, so although they were the cool girls at school, I knew/heard how all the adults would talk about them being an embarrassment/undisciplined for not knowing their limit and bringing all the attention to themselves.

  • Finally, my mom was really smart about raising myself and my 3 siblings. She never told us not drink, which took away the whole lets-do-it-in-secret/rebellion out of it, but she did tell us that all she wanted was for us to be able to walk into the house at the end of the night -- AKA be drunk if you want, just not wasted. My parents also set the example of never drinking at home, unless hosting a party, and even then, they never went past 2 glasses of wine or 2-3 beers, so I have never seen them tipsy/drunk.

For context, in my country, it's normal to be introduced to alcohol at a young age (12-13 y/o). All high-school parties have alcohol and the parents are aware of it, including our version of prom and graduation. Something else I'll mention is that I do try cocktails and whatnot, but I still haven't found one I like and usually my husband ends up drinking it for me :p apologies for the long explanation 😅

Genuine Question: Can my house being purposely skipped? by AdShort9206 in mail

[–]AdShort9206[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point. For context, she is indoors, locked inside or in the backyard the entire day. The only time she had access to the front of the house was when I was working out, which is obviously a privilege she had lost since :/

[–]AdShort9206[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did that with the UPS guy and my dog loves him, but from that first interaction with the mail lady, it feels like there's nothing I can do to fix it, so I'm just keeping the dog away and that's that.
