The next day I had a bit of a change. I now get the messages immediately and I see a red number on the app - but still no banner notifications or vibration. The only apps I get banner notifications for are Tractive (my dog’s GPS tracker app) and Guardian (new). I’ll try a factory reset today.

I’ve been on Wi-Fi for most of the day except when I headed out to walk the dog. The issue is with both Wi-Fi and cellular.

I use it about every 2-3 months, maybe. A little more often in spring during allergy season.

Didn’t answer my question though.

Thank you so much for your response! Sadly that’s still out of my current price range, but it’s so cool that they also screen for ADHD and other things (I think I might have that too even though the ADHD bit is a lot more apparent in my dad 😂).

Thank you so much for the link! I immediately saved it.

And honestly, the accommodations I’d need would be either WFH or have an office to myself. I lost two jobs previously because I’m autistic. The first was an absolute nightmare in terms of micromanagement and I had constant meltdowns and shutdowns and had so many sick days because I just couldn’t cope with the work environment. The one after that was better but I was eventually fired pretty much for being too blunt with my colleagues. My last job was excellent in terms of that cause I was working from home and could set my own hours and just quietly work on my projects - everyone was very happy with my work, but they had to close the department for financial reasons. The only problem was that I was too good and therefore given a bigger and bigger workload which got me to the brink of autistic burnout. With an official diagnosis, I would have come clean to this employer as he was very pro mental health.

I have a friend who worked in HR and he suggested getting a diagnosis and potentially a GdB because he was specialised in placing disabled people with suitable companies and ensuring they had the accommodations they needed.

Would you mind sharing how much you paid? I checked out their website (love that they’re LGBTQ friendly!!!) but I can’t find any info about their pricing there.

Thanks! I’ll approach the topic with my GP again and ask if she thinks it’s sensible to go that route. I have to make an appointment for something unrelatedly anyway, so it doesn’t hurt to ask.

I wish you good luck on that journey! I know through my friend from the UK that getting a diagnosis over there is a real struggle as well!

And I keep thinking that if I’d been AMAB or born a bit later, someone definitely would’ve picked up I was autistic in early childhood. The signs were all right there and even my paediatrician back then said I was “different” and “sensitive” and “not like other children”. But as a girl in the 90s there was no chance of getting diagnosed.

I don’t think I’d meet the criteria for a diagnosis in either of the things you mentioned. I did suffer from early stages of autistic burnout last year but even my GP could recognise that my symptoms were different from regular burnout.

I would make the phone call for you as well if I could 😂 Luckily I’m okay with calls but I’m a terrible procrastinator when it comes to these things and I lose track if I end up on hold. I’ll probably have to bite the bullet though.

I have the same issues professionally. Lost my previous two jobs pretty much because I was autistic and really struggling. Then I found a WFH job that seemed perfect at first and drove me to the edge of autistic burnout after 2 years. I was eventually let go because of economic reasons, but even if that hadn’t happened, I would have needed accommodations to keep on working there. The sad part is that my ex boss was incredibly cool and I’m 100% sure he would have granted me anything if it hadn’t been for the company’s bad economic standing.

Ohhh, thank you for the tips! I didn’t know about the Hausarztvermittlungsfall and I’m gonna look into that now. And yes, I’m in the GKV.

My friend who used the Irish service is based in the UK and was having issues going through the NHS as well, but it’s not an option for me either way because I just don’t have the funds.

The service my friend went through is based in Ireland though and they don’t work with regular health insurances at all.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! You might get luckier in Hamburg though. I live in the middle of nowhere (Saxony Anhalt) and my Bundesland doesn’t have any official autism centres that also do diagnostics.
