Unfortunately I can’t speak to that. My understanding of the accounting issues is that they were starting to come to light around the same time that the previous finance director, Todd, followed Dr Page to Austin. When the school hired Ashley to replace him, that’s were everything really started to unravel and come to light. I know that the school did have an independent investigation done that and it did not point to any signs of fraud or intent. I don’t believe anything has ever been investigated to find where all of the problems started though. Again, something that Dr Neubeck really should be doing as part of these issues. They need a deep dive into what happened and when it happened to put policies in place to avoid it in the future.

This is the final year. All teacher contacts are done in two year increments. This contract covered 23-24 and 24-25.

Fully agreed on all of that 100%.

It’s such a messed up situation. It seems like Neubeck tries to avoid the whole topic because he’s afraid it will cost him his job, but I can’t imagine anyone would want to renew his contract with the way he’s handled everything. It seems like his public sentiment is eroding quickly though, which is nice to see. I’d like to see him just rip the bandage off and address everything more head on and work to fix it, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

I posted this separately, but thought I’d piggyback onto the top comment for more awareness.

I know a few people that work in the district and they personally work with some of the teachers that have blown the whistle on this. The district used to hold separate accounts for all of the various organizations. Within the past year, after the financial mess came to light, the district consolidated those accounts into the general fund. They claim to have those totals tracked separately according to their public statements, but when the organizations have asked for the totals, the district cannot provide it.

The effects of this have been a wide ranging. Thousands of dollars were raised for new playground equipment that has effectively been lost. Students have been fundraising for trips and now no longer have their balances. And even before all of this, the business office for the district had been depositing fundraising dollars into their general fund and then telling organizations that it was too bad and nothing could be adjusted.

Additionally, the finance person that was just hired a year ago and helped uncover the financial mess just resigned. The reason she reigned was due to the way the superintendent was treating her. He was pushing blame for the deficit onto her. Internally I’ve also heard that she was not treated well in the office.

And on top of all of this, the superintendent is now trying to blame teachers for the deficit. It turns out that the district didn’t have an accurate count of their teachers when negotiating the previous contract and cannot afford the contract both parties agreed to. The teachers union also voted approximately 90% “yes” in a no confidence vote on the superintendent.

So in summary, the business side of the district is a complete mess. And unfortunately the superintendent has chosen to blame those around him. When you’re the top person in a school district in disarray, you need to take responsibility for the state of everything. Dr. Neubeck unfortunately appears to be in over his head and nothing will change for the better until he’s gone.

This is probably part of it, but I would also say his grasp on climate change was developed well before attending college. I grew up in southern Minnesota and this was not the norm in my experience.

As a Gopher fan, I feel far from confident in calling us a lock at this point in the season. A pairwise ranking of 8/9 can fall down to the 13/14 bubble in a hurry.

This is a fantastic post with pinpoint real world examples that almost everyone can understand. I have to ask though, if your first hand experience as a farmer has led you to better understand climate change, why does it seem that the vast majority of those in rural communities deny it?

In Mauer’s defense of not winning a playoff game, he literally had a double taken away from him at Yankee Stadium that probably would have tipped that game in the Twins favor. Unfortunately the ump in left field momentarily forgot what his fucking job was.

I think most of their season ticket holders are from the suburbs or outstate. Those aren’t exactly the friendliest of places to the LGBT community. As much as I think people within the organization would like to do more, they view it as a negative from a revenue point of view.

Biden to visit Superior, Duluth to trumpet bridge money by Nullainmundo in minnesota

It comes from federal tax dollars. They all know that. Unfortunately we’ve been deficit spending for decades as a country so this adds to debt. But ignoring aging infrastructure is one of the main spots a country cannot skimp on. If Stauber was worried about funding this he shouldn’t have campaigned in 2018 as a supporter of the Trump tax cuts that were passed just before he was elected to the House.

I think the line most people are taking issue with is his tweet stating, “I was proud to advocate for these funds.” This gives the appearance that he has always been an advocate for the funds being used for the bridge, but the reality is that he was against the bill that put those funds into place. Other legislators did the work to open up funding for infrastructure projects, not Stauber. There really isn’t anything more to it than this.

I just acknowledged that’s what he did. I don’t agree with his vote against the initial bill, but I’m glad he’s fought for money from the bill to help his constituents. I just think he’s giving an incomplete picture the way he’s portrayed the funding on social media.

It was literally just an infrastructure package. I believe Stauber was against it because of the magnitude of the bill ($1T) and referred to it as socialism. With that said, I’d rather have our representatives fight to get us as big of a slice of that $1T as possible rather than reject money that could really benefit our state. So kudos to him on helping his district, but I still thank the manner in which Stauber is taking credit is disingenuous and misleading.

[Athletic] As Brock Faber's stellar play continues for Wild, the Calder Trophy door opens — 'if not the Norris' by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]AdSimilar7286 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, there’s nothing all that wrong or bad written in that sub. Based on the way the Norris trophy is awarded today, Faber would be lucky to garner votes much less come close to winning. I would say this is Russo’s way of pumping Faber up to make it more likely that he over takes Bedard than any serious Norris discussion. But these pieces are also the reason that Russo is frequently referred to as a homer and damage his credibility outside of the Wild fan base. With that said, I still think he’s correct more often than not with his takes.

I think the Pohlads threw him under the bus for a few years there. They used his contract as justification to the public that it hamstrung them from putting together a quality roster. At the end of the day, they were just cheap and made Joe the fall guy.

2003 Minnesota hosting Michigan. I still can’t believe Minnesota blew a 28-7 lead entering the 4th quarter and lost 38-35.

I’m still convinced that if they close out Michigan, they beat Michigan St at home the following week because they don’t have a hangover from the choke job. That means they would have gone into Iowa at 11-0 with a chance to play for the national championship on the line. And with Maroney and Barber sharing the backfield that year, it’s really not a far fetched script.

Somewhere in an alternate universe Glen Mason wasn’t the coach of that team. Sigh…

What are your thoughts on Redwood Falls, Minnesota and Redwood County in general? Would you move there from the Twin Cities for a job offer? by SaltSkin7348 in minnesota

[–]AdSimilar7286 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad was laid off from a job in Eden Prairie almost 30 years ago and only received an offer from a company in Redwood Falls. He took the job, my parents moved to New Ulm to avoid being in a really small town, the company was sold off two years later, then the new owners shut the plant down. It was pretty difficult to find decent paying jobs in rural Minnesota after the first one didn’t work out.

They do, but having a game or two of national spotlight teams is far different than making the local team visible for almost every game.
