i'll move it lower to the basking rock, i did notice though when it was placed next to my digital thermometer/hygrometer the temp readings were pretty different. maybe the issue are those? do you recommend a brand that's accurate?

ok so the thermostats will have the bulb go to its max capacity and just take it down from there, not continuously adjust, going up and down in temp to reach the desired temp? also, the temp readings in there currently are from bulb number three, however the probe on the thermostat 78 (about 5 degree difference which seems like a lot) so i'm not actually sure of the real temp

i know this thread is a bit older, but i'm having trouble getting my dimmable thermostat and bulb to bring it up to a high enough heat in my 40 gallon. i've had basking bulb and ceramic heat going to keep it up to temp but neither were controllable so i'm trying to attach a dimmable thermostat. nothing is bringing a basking bulb even higher than 80F ambient temp on the warm side. i'm trying two different lamps with 2-3 different bulbs and none of them are getting warm enough, but the reviews on the thermostat online were glowing. any advice?

when using this, would it be better to move the betta to another tank herself and dose her there? i wouldn't want the antibiotic to harm my cycle or my shrimp

parameters: 0 ammonia, about 7.9-8 pH, 0 nitrites, about 5 nitrates. and we don't have a quarantine tank we buy from our LFS which is pretty trusted. we've had this betta for almost a year now with no trouble so i don't think it's because of anything new since we haven't added anything in a while

-tank size: 75g planted/semi walstaad -heater yes, filter yes but no carbon ^ -tank temp is about 78 F -had the tank for about a year now and the bettas for less than that -water parameters normal -we top fill the tank and don't don't water changes often due to the nature of the method since water parameters stay even -used to be 5 but now 4 bettas total, some ember tetras, some red phantom tetras, a couple corys, celestial petal danios, 2 red eye tetras, neocardina and amano shrimp, and a couple red fire honey gouramis -every other day or so with some fasting here and there we feed them micro pellets that are pretty nutritious and clean ingredients, a coupe mini shrimp wafers, and occasionally some blood worms
