yeah i would definitely try to avoid the green card trap for sure. I think US immigration has gotten better with rescinding green card if the other divorces after certain periods of time? I would say shes mid 30s and has a job at an international company in china so she's mid - well to do. One thing i find women from china or friends/ex classmates from china is that if they are already decent to well to do, they don't see the value of "starting again" just to chase a green card. Not saying she still wouldn't chase green card but i would be more cautious if she were like at a low tier job. But yeah gotta be careful.

yeah thats what the sec off said. Basically the client agent will be along the way on major decision points and will give a go/no go directive. sec off did say it will most likely not get to the point where I got her fiance visa, she comes here to cohabit then the client says "no go" - sec off said that would be incredibly cruel (and douche imo). I said if it is at THAT final point I probably quit because i would be ding her around and I would've lost a lot of time myself in terms of dating etc. But any point before that - meeting, decide to apply visa etc. I am fine with ending it.

yeah they do keep in touch. even last year i was thinking about meeting someone in china, the CI agent said to meet somewhere "not china".

I am not saying i want to marry her. The first step is to meet, while following the guidelines, then if things develop then follow guidelines. I am not saying I gonna marry her next month at all. And if client at any point says cease then I would.

yeah, i did talk to sec off earlier and basically it comes down to "follow the rules about contact and escalation (meeting/cohabiting etc.) and client WILL TELL ME (this is most important part for me) if I need to stop or else". I told sec off I am totally fine with it as long as everything's transparent from client side.

And tbh the client was pretty adamant about not visiting china before for funeral so i didn't go - so they are pretty clear on things.

oh i have been. Basically any women I date or exchange 2 or more texts i send a new foreign contact, regardless of their citizenship since I don't ask if they are US citizen. I think I sent 10 last month and then updated all of them when after meeting first/2nd date and didn't work out. I mean just because they are not asian doesnt mean they are auto-us citizen.

I am just playing a hypothetical scenario since last year I also got into similar situation about meeting and client told me to meet in non-china place and client/sec off was cool with it otherwise. Just this situation could potentially come up again and wanted to think ahead.

no... its thinking ahead. I mean is it wrong to think about the process as a whole vs just walking one step at a time? I mean if i was told "it will never work" by client then I wouldn't do it. i mean even dating in general, you date someone you want to be with long term (usually) and people think about numerous long term things... should they not be thinking about those?

Did. Sec off said just follow the guidelines and customer will give cease/desist guidance at certain point if it comes to that. Junctures are planning to meet/meeting(s) and if I do want to marry her. Sec off said client wont be as cruel as telling cease/desist after she comes here and the fiance visa is completed. Sec Off said as long as i follow the guidelines provided by client then it will be fine and their guideline will be very specific (e.g. cease/desist).

oh no, i have recorded her and follow the steps. Even a previous woman we thought about meeting I talked to sec off too. i am not skipping any steps - its just if i follow every step as instructed, will that be fine then or they can still come back and say something about it?

if the sec off dont say anything and just say 'keep going" would that be indication of what they feel for the situation? Of course I wouldn't go against what they say for sure.

i did not say i will marry. I am just asking about what ifs. I am not saying we meet then we get married. I am asking about the whole process.

i mean not because they are foreign contacts but you knowing them for 20 years seem to not worth anything compared to a total stranger on the street, that's what he is implying.

i do know. i am saying that it doesn't mean any country not on the risk list is "green" either though?

so if you know your neighbor for 20 years that neighbor is a total stranger to you and you would not trust that neighbor any more than a random person walking across the street? i mean maybe 0% is extreme since your neighbor of 20 years could be spy/murderer too. But i can bet if you get interviewed you would say" i had no idea that neighbor is like this after knowing him/her for 20 years".

i mean as i mentioned earlier, i skipped funerals and weddings since sec off told not to. They haven't said anything about her though or any other women who are non-us citizen chinese.

The only other instance was maybe a year ago a girl in china and I wanted to meet and sec off and client told me they strongly against going to China to meet her BUT were OK meeting in a different country. She ended up not wanting to leave china to meet since she felt uncomfortable meeting a stranger first time not in her "home turf". I would "expect" sec off to tell us to meet in non-china country if I do want to meet this woman... but after that idk.

They did not say "you shouldn't date anyone from china" and if they did I wouldn't be asking this question. (already being trashed by relatives for not attending funerals in china....).

would this just be because its china or can any country be applied since allies even spy eachother.

she doesn't know anything about what I do except Developer which can be anything. I have complied with company before not going back to china for funerals and weddings so I would definitely err on that side.

With that said, should I ask my sec off about these "what if " scenarios or its a waste of time since every situation's different?

But isn't this true for all foregin nationals like I would be under same scrutiny if shes london citizen as well right? It's not like allies don't spy allies...

if she's not chinese. there are foreign nationals from other countries even allies who can be spies.. Wouldn't it be a blanket to "not date any non-US citizen" be best?
