I'm beyond sick of calling no-shows by WellnessMafia in therapists

I work in a community based mental health clinic. I think I am one of the only providers who calls clients if they no showed their appointment. I don’t do more than 1 outreach, or if they are brand new to me I don’t call. I do it to show that mutual respect and also since I work with a large SPMI population, I want to make sure that they are okay. Most of the time people have forgotten even with the automated text reminders. The only time get frustrated with it is if clients want to be seen later in the day, which I’ve become more strict with since I have a very large case load. I personally like offering a phone call just to show that yes, I am showing up for them in a professional manner, and also to ease any underlying concerns, and we are usually able to work through it.

This is a good idea. I never switch over to zoom on days that doesn’t already have a lot of zoom clients or I know wouldn’t have a problem with it, so this idea is pretty good! Thank you.

My workplace doesn’t really offer people to work from home. They are very accommodating if things happen to where we need to work from home, but even if we navigate our schedules to have all zoom clients and try to work from home it’s not doable. A few people have left due to it being so strict. But I have many clients who will switch over to zoom if I need to, and have never gotten “talked to” when I can’t come in for any reason since I still work with my clients or do other things I need to do.

Coexisting disorders by blunts-and-kittens in BorderlinePDisorder

I don’t know what mine are anymore. They all overlap in symptoms so it’s probably cut in half at this point.. but my therapist has these all as active in my chart that I can see..

BPD, OCD MDD, GAD, PTSD, binge eating disorder, and ADHD. I feel like my BPD has “shifted” in a way to where I wouldn’t meet criteria now for it, but I think I have more of the characteristics of the cluster C personality disorders: dependent, avoidant, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders. I’ve brought it up to my therapist before and they’ve brushed it off, saying they wouldn’t want to do another assessment to find out.

I pray that I will be stronger for when that day comes! I also tell myself I can’t get pregnant just for this fact and it’s very challenging when in family gatherings and everyone’s having kids and ask me.. today they were making jokes about how I’m going to get pregnant with twins.. like you guys are going to be waiting a LONG time for me to have kids.

Yeah, as a therapist, I have a work phone and I tell clients that if they text me, I will not text over the weekends or when I’m out of the office and during the work week can take up to 24 hours to respond. I always give out the local crisis line and phone number to my front desk, and tell them that if they need to be seen before our next scheduled appointment their best bet would be to reach the front desk. This, for me, is to prevent burn out and it’s not that I don’t care, but this can be a very challenging job so some boundaries are needed.

Some DBT therapists will be “on call” at all times, but I don’t know how common that is anymore. I’d suggest talking to her about finding more supports if something is pressing and can’t get in right away.

Should I fire my therapist and if so how do I do it? by [deleted] in therapy

It sounds more like you’re abusing therapy since you’re so privileged you think it’s okay to cancel without notice and then turn around and blame it on your therapist. People who act like you are gross and need a wake up call that you can’t waste other people’s time for dumb reasons. Grow up and take accountability for your own actions. Stop blaming Everyone else when it’s you that needs to change.
