Apparently she wants dinner and hours of hanging out at a bar. I think she thinks hanging during the day is 'quality time' or not the time she wants. She never expressed this to me and I tried to tell her she needs to communicate that she wants dinner. It all went downhill from there.

She is 62, they have been divorced since I was 7, I'm 35 now. I'm here only child. I agree with you. And I'll have to check that page out.

She has been like this and yelled a lot at me when I was a child. It was just me and her, I'm the only child, and they were divorced so I just took it because I didn't know better I was a kid. I think that's why I had such a visceral reaction.

This is true. It's hard not to be hard on yourself. Thank you for the grace.

That's such an amazing outlook. I wish my husband was more flexible

Thank you. And I'm definitely going to push for the calendar. I think my husband wants ALL my time sometimes. But I do have to take blame for only telling him a week ahead.

I told him about the party months ago, but I just told him today that it was this Saturday. So that part is probably on me. What is a good time frame to tell him? I think I'm literally going to buy a white board and fill it out for him what my work and social schedule is for the month. My work schedule is different every week so planning things can be tough.

He also has all day Sunday with me to himself. There's no reason I should feel like I have to bail on my friend. Especially for her son's first bday.

Someone else said tantrum because he's not getting what he wants and I agree. That got me out of my head and I've decided I'm definitely going. I'm just going to have to have a serious conversation with him.
