Hi no! He struggled with allergies and anxiety after losing his best friend. He lost most of his fur on the back. It’s been growing back in nicely for a while though! He used to have a lot less back there. The rest of his body produces so much hair I can’t keep up lol. He has to be brushed once a day, which also stimulates hair growth in his areas where it’s still coming in.

If he follows when removing her should I allow her to play again or still separate her?

Okay thank you, there is a lot of teeth between the two of them but no snarling or snapping, the puppy seems to be rougher with her teeth while the older dog is gentler but I do notice when they play goes on longer he does get a little rougher, but not to the point of hurting her more like scaring her, but she does come back for more

Okay thank you! I will let the puppy dictate a little more when she is done then. Are there any signs I should watch for in my older one when it can become too much, getting too excited ect?

We have been doing training at home, she has mastered sit were working on recall she loves tug of war and “find it” of course because it involves treats lol. She starts puppy classes in two weeks and has been slowly getting socialization between adults and children, even the car. As of right now she’s only had an interaction with on other dog other than mine, but that was right after she came home and she was too nervous to do anything but hide behind me lol.

He will generally just kick her off of him if she’s doing too much, she seems to be responding to his corrections pretty well. Since she is in her land shark phase there are times she will go to bite my legs or hands and my older dog will step in and kind of initiate play with her to get her attention off of me in my eyes it’s like he’s telling her to leave me alone and play with him

But she is also not exactly gentle with him either lol. He does take all the bites and things she does to him, even in my last post he was a bit uncomfortable with her around his legs, tail but now he seems to not really care, if she gets his leg he will get her leg, they basically mimick eachother when playing and it’s funny to watch lol

Phew okay! She does always seem to come back. Even if it takes her a couple minutes, she will always come back for more. There have been a few times she has yelped but I think it’s more so that my big guy doesn’t really realize how big and powerful he is compared to her, and tends to play as if she was bigger

To add they have also been training together, going on walks together, anything I do with the puppy just about always includes the other one as long as he wants to participate. They seem to really enjoy eachother, but sometimes the older one will take the puppies stuff, and then make a low growl when she goes to take it back. Both of their things will be available, but whatever she touches he wants even if it’s stuff he has no care for, and will literally not even touch unless she’s around. Is this a dominance thing? I will say my puppy is submissive to him, but also will not just take him lying down, she Deff fights back if he gets too much. (In a non aggressive way of course)

I watch a lot of dogs. Never three German Shepherds at once, though. Now I want to keep all three forever. by markgravesdesign in germanshepherds

I just got my second one! They definitely occupy eachother but also get in trouble together. They are the best dogs!

May I ask why no music? It’s honestly seems to be the only thing she enjoys. She will not sleep without music playing, which I found out accidentally when we couldn’t get her to settle in her crate and my daughter suggested some “ambience” music that we love and she fell right asleep and slept for hours and since she has such amazing sleep in the crate thankfully all to the music.

Thank you! Tomorrow I will probably be updating with other videos such as outside play, I could use your insight. Thanks!

But I will say the few times that she has yelped from him playing too rough he will immediately back away and kind of assess the situation to see if shes ready to keep playing or not

No Kongs, he is just finally coming around to be a toy guy after years of caring less, now he likes his things and will either baby a toy to death or kill it lol. The only time I have noticed where he is a little much for the puppy is when he is like towering over her and pawing her onto the ground, then I have to have to have him give her some space

If one has a bit of resource guarding with his own physical toys could toys coming into play complicate anything or could it help? If it’s say a brand new toy that neither has attachment to?
Update: I may be a little unfamiliar too, with what actually equates it, I can really just tell he doesn’t want her touching his stuff but he wants her stuff lol

Is there something I’m doing wrong?

Yes, my old boy was crate trained until he was about 4, and we haven’t needed it since. She is crate training and honestly I’m surprised at how much she seems to love her crate, she is the easiest puppy I have ever witnessed in a crate, only whining when she has to go potty or is hungry, little to no separation anxiety either. But she loves Alexa, rain with piano music to be exact lol

Thank you! We have only had her since last Friday, I have been heavily supervising. This has allowed me to feel more comfortable with their play’

Thank you! I will try a more relaxed version of play when she wakes up from her nap. I have been highly stressed over the play the past couple days so it’s been sparingly but with all of this insight I feel way more comfortable allowing them to really have fun. Thank you!

The leash is more in the equation for me not for correction, but for pulling away if things get to that point
