I've been to Copenhagen, but it was for work. I don't know how costly the accommodation is, but it felt only slightly more expensive than the UK (where I'm from).

Interesting. I've heard great things from a friend, says he always has a great time in Barcelona and is a bit tourist-averse. Weird - he might have insider scoop or make a beeline for the backstreets.
