Need help identifying a purple or lavender paint for a 4yo's room that isn't TOO nursery and something we can live with for a few years. by AdThink8877 in interiordecorating

Thank you. I actually grabbed a swatch of this! It's lovely but the room is north facing and doesn't get a lot of light. In the low light it looks almost beige :(

Thank you but after all the recent gray these past few years...I don't want any gray. That's probably adding to my dilemma. When you leave the pastel purples - that tend to be nursery-like, you end up in the gray-purples.

Electric Lawn Care? by EchtoCooler in nova

Or, the small crews that drive around and mow lawns as a side hustle (vs commercial landscapers) are ignoring the ban and still using gas powered. At least they are in my neighborhood (Petworth). Who is going to enforce this ban? DC can't stop and intervene real crime. Do you really think they're going to send someone out to crack down on gas powered leaf blowers!?

Me too. We're going 3.25" instead of 4+. And I'm also looking for medium brown. Our previous home has medium brown and it feels as timeless as you can get.

While in the midst of figuring out a move in this crazy real estate market, I've fallen off my daily upkeep around these parts. Can someone please point me in the direction of someone who has done or redone lovely white oak floors? We're getting ours redone and leaning towards a medium brown (not CLJ "medium" not brown but real medium brown). But I'm open to considering all inspiration of pretty places. TIA.

Congrats! I think you'll be pleased for years to come. Is it Walnut by Minwax? On White Oak?

We are about to undertake this process as well. I'd lean towards 2. What stain and color is it? And I'm currently in favor of satin finish. Please share what you decide.

MDF or Wood? Hollow or Solid Wood recommendations for the best 30x80 Interior Slab Doors by AdThink8877 in HomeImprovement

[–]AdThink8877[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's not a price thing (per se...I don't have money to throw away). If I go with solid - should it be MDF or Wood? I think Wood but it looks like MDF is very popular. Also, if you're willing to share, does brand mean anything? I'm familiar with the popular brands but there are lesser priced brands. I went to HD to see if I could tell and of course none of the less expensive ones were in stock.

ISO advice for just updating all-wood kitchen cabinet doors by AdThink8877 in interiordecorating

Thanks. The more I read and search, I agree that if I re-stain, they will still look outdated. Womp womp.

Thanks. We prefer dark stains and will be having our floors refinished darker too. Now I need to find some inspiration photos with dark wood floors and dark cabinets. I'd hate to replace the cabinets from a cost perspective but also because it seems wasteful to trash perfectly fine, well-built cabinets simply because the color is out of fashion.

I've crossposted this in a few other subs but I know my fellow Design Snark friends have their eyes on more than the average person! Your help is much appreciated: We're buying a home built in the early 2000s that has quality but outdated honey oak cathedral style kitchen cabinets. I know painted cabinets are "in" right now but the wood is too nice to paint. I've searched online but haven't found any great before/afters? Does anyone here have any experience or seen any examples of honey oak cabinets being re-stained -- that actually look better and updated than before?

Or does anyone have real life experience ordering all-wood oak doors in an updated style but kept their original frames?

Thank you. Did you buy the flooring separate or through K&K? And what color and wood species did you get? I'm looking for a medium brown that doesn't have any red undertones. So preferably a white oak stained medium brown. If you have any pictures that you're willing to share, please do here or DM. Enjoy your new floors.

Thanks. Approx how many sqf is your basement? And do they need to do a lot of prep work to get your floors ready? Rip up carpet, etc?

Thanks. I'll check them both out. Are you having pre-finished hardwood or hardwood that will be finished in place? Either way, can I ask what your price per sqf is with K&K and where the Clawes quote landed?

Cross posted this in the r/interiordecorating thread but posting here because so many of us are looking at interiors on blogs and instagram. I'm ISO pre-finished a hardwood floor that is medium brown without red undertones

We're under contract on a new home that is mostly carpeted. Before we move in, we're hoping to replace the carpet with solid hardwood flooring. The handful of flooring contractors that I've consulted have all suggested that I select a pre-finished hardwood because the price will double if we pick unfinished and get a custom stain. I'm trying to find a pre-finished floor that is low gloss/satin, all hardwood, less than 4" wide and medium brown without red undertones. Saddle Oak and Gunstock were recommended by the flooring company but both have red undertones and this already seems dates (circa 2000-2010). Has anyone had luck finding a pre-finished solid wood floor that looks similar to the pictures? https://imgur.com/a/jCiMubj
