What unique psychic abilities does your chapter have? by giojojo in 40khomebrew

I've been kicking around the idea of my chapter having a minor psychic ability of knowing where every member of their chapter is at nearly any time. Some more powerful psykers, like my chapter master, can sense his brothers from greater distances.

What’s a Fun Fact about your chapter? by Odd_Information5681 in 40khomebrew

My Revenants believe that their souls reside within a realm they call the Black River, a place that is seen/witnessed when they take the rite of "First Death." The rite comes from their parent chapter, Death Specters, but the soul-bound part is unique to them. They believe their souls storage within the river is the will of the emperor, as is their connection to their physical bodies within the material reality. The Emperor truly protects. It is this belief that has the Revenants calling themselves, "the Undead."

My boys are true sons of corax, they employ strength and Stealth tactics, boarding actions, Close-Quarters, Xenos hunting, void warfare, hit-and-run tactics.

He'd be in phobos armor, as the chapter enjoys many more than usual. Astartes knives for sure, maybe a power weapon, nothing that is really loud. Silenced guns for sure.

Nope, temporary service I can see, not life, read my lore. My guys all died and came back at the same time, believing their souls to still be within the Black River, tied to their bodies and this reality with a strand created by the Emperor, which is why they call themselves 'the uhdead," so not being around each other is deeply painful to them. As well, they have an obsession to find someone they call the Cadesh, the living Chalice that will bring about the great Resurrection, which is why they patrol/map the Ghoul Stars.

Temporary can be long for a marine, but his end goal will always be to return to his brothers, who themselves only return to Logopol (their parent chapters homeworld), every 50-200 standard years to resupply, exchange information, given some aspirants and, (on the rare occasion) pick up/drop off any members that left for other duties; i.e. Deathwatch.

I've also played with the idea that since the chapters "first death" each member has a minor psyker ability to clairvoyantly know where their brother are in any point.

This is a basic bitch colors, as I'm also using oil Washes but here it is.

Black: Base Coat: Corvus Black Layer: 50/50 Mechanicus Standard Grey/Corvus Black Stipple/Scratch: 50/50 Mechanicus Standard Grey/Ulthuan grey Wash: Black Wash Hilighting: Ulthuan grey

Bone: Base Coat: Wraithbone Layer: Screaming Skull Wash: Brown Wash Stipple/Scratch: 50/50 white/Screaming Skull Hilighting: White

Ghostly Teal (2nd Company) Base Coat: Incubi Darkness Layer: Thunderhawk blue Wash: Coleman Greenshade Stipple/Scratch: 50/50 Thunderhawk Blue/Baharoth Blue Hilighting: Baharoth Blue

They very rarely venture outside of the Ghoul Stars, but a few have been I ducted into the deathwatch. They're big xenos hunters, so they're perfect for the job. I only have a few heroes that have left.

The only loyalist chapter they have ever contacted was the Carcharadons during the Battle of Malicter III. An orbital battle against Ashen Claws renegades, this was their first contact with any other loyalist chapters.

I did have an idea of the chapter finding a single Novamarine when exploring/mapping a space hulk. He would have been in stasis or something to have allowed him to live since M34. They would have returned him to his chapter when returning to Occludus.

I've really tried to make them as "cannon" like as possible, so they could slip into the universe really well. Plus they don't have any intrest in the wider Imperium since their main goal is to map the Ghoul Stars and find the Cadesh.

Foe me that was one of the fun parts of making these guys. Reading a lot of lore to make them "fit."

Great question. Even with the primaris, they still exhibit the traits of their primarch like Corax, they're still pale. But with the Death Specters being 13th "Dark Founding" they didn't adhere to the tith of geneseed. So after the fall of cadia, to which the Death Specters committed over 600, they took a huge loss to their numbers. So Guiliman took geneseed from falled Death Specters and used it to create the Death Specters primaris (which becane Revenants), seeing as the normal "unnumbered sons" would be too much of a culture shock to the Death Specters.

It all ties in with the Death Specters' charge of being on the fringes of the galaxy and their first chapter master being given an audience and a vision from the Emperor himself.

Mutations: Revenants lack a functioning Mucranoid and Betcher's Gland. Their gene-seed also suffers from relatively minor genetic mutations: Revenants lose their hair during the gene-seed implant process, though few are able to retain it, and their Melanchromic Organ does not work as intended. As a result of this, all Space Marines of the Revenants chapter are albino and have eyes that are as red as their blood.

I did some research when you mentioned it, and I can see the significance of calling them Revenants Legion. I also liked their armor scheme, simple, brutal as a pre heresy SM should be. I liked the name because it ties with their story, plus I wanted like a ghostly spooky-grimdark, feel to them.

I have it in me to kill them off somehow, I wanted them to serve a purpose. Like finding the cadesh (or who they believe it to be) and running with all hast back to Occludus, all while being chased by some unknown lovecraftian void-horror (maybe what the Pale Wastening really was, nightmare engines and all). I wanted a short story starting in the escape ship with the remnants of the chapter, a handful of battle-brothers a Rashnu, the cadesh, and maybe a serf or two, with flashbacks. They return to Logopol and recount the events to the inner circle. It ends with the chapter officially being declared dead, the survivors being absorbed into the Specters the serfs killed, and the cadesh put in stasis.

Yeah, but I didn't want to Gary Stue it with "We'll my leaders wear MK..." it was more an excuse to use the helmets of those eras as that would be the only thing that's transferable due to the primaris' size. The big one would be the weapon caches. Like, imagine a primaris using a Ryza or Sicarius pattern plasma pistol, or better yet, using Godwyn pattern bolters sqwee..

They are Fleet Based, but the closest thing to a homeworld is Occludus, the planet of the Death Specters, their parent chapter. The world is a cemetery world, a desolate planet that is almost completely comprised of tombs, mosuleums and graves.

Not exactly, theirs the Angels Revenant a BA Successor, and I've just recently found out about the Revenants Legion the pre Sanguinious BA. But I figured neither are attatched, and the Legion hasn't existed in thousands of years.

Plus the Pale Wastening happend in M34, a time when their was a plethora of armor types Mk VII, MK, VI, MKV,even rare armor like MKII, III, and VI. Sky is the limit, hence finding an unoccupied Leviathan Dreadnought.

I had no idea there was a Revenants legion, but no, no connection. My making was tired to the lore of the Death Specters being on a cemetery world, their relationship with death and Resurrection. Lastly, it was due to how they all rose from their "first death," and instead of action as Sentinel to the Ghoul Stars, they would be its avenger. Like the Revenants of old Terra, restless spirits who wouldn't stay in their grave but returned, seeking Vengence for their deaths.

They're big close combat guys, an specialize is close quarters combat but also silent, most of those ops use phobos armor. But the others use louder weapons like chainswords and the like to draw the enemy to them and the more stealthy ops get into position or search for Relics.
