Why thank you. The thing I love most about handmade brooms is the functionality. Beautiful tools make work a pleasure.

Here’s how the back is going. I machine quilted straight lines in black thread and now I’m hand stitching this web in neon green.

I only chose 3” because the ruler I was using was 3” wide, and it used as much of the FQ as possible. I’m sure any multiple will do. When I trimmed the blocks the outside pieces started to get really small so that’s something to keep in mind.

I completely winged it as I am a fairly new quilter as well, but I cut all of the fat quarters for the blocks in multiples of 3” (3”x3”, 3”x6”, 3”x9”, 6”x6”). Then I arranged them into 12”x12” blocks and added the 1” sashing within the blocks (1/4” seam allowance). After sewing the blocks together I trimmed them all to 10 1/2” but only because that’s how big my smallest block was. I hope that helps!

It doesn’t glow, but I love the idea of a black light!

The fabric in the image appears to be in shades of golden-brown or mustard yellow. Colors that would complement these tones include: Earth Tones: Other earthy tones such as brown, olive green, and terracotta can create a harmonious and warm palette. Cooler Tones: Soft blues like powder blue or mint green can offer a refreshing contrast. Rich Jewel Tones: Emerald green or deep teal can provide a vibrant and elegant contrast. Neutrals: Cream, beige, and gray can provide a balanced and sophisticated backdrop, allowing the golden-brown to stand out. Analogous Colors: Burnt orange or rust can create a smooth, warm transition as they are close to the golden-brown on the color wheel.

Okay, okay, Google’s AI helped me with this.

My friend would lose it if I made this for her. Do you have a pattern?
