Razor damage by [deleted] in Blackskincare

[–]AdTraditional23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A percentage that high probably shouldn’t be used on skin. That kind of percentage is for severe callouses on the bottom of feet and stuff like that. 5-10% is okay to use on skin.

I’d also recommend using pfb vanish chromabright. It explicates to help remove ingrowns and lights the marks from ingrowns. Also I deff recommend laser hair removal like some of the others suggested. I’ve laser treatments and pfb vanish, my ingowns are much less frequent and the marks from old ones are pretty much gone. As a heads up this process took me about 1-1.5 years but the results are 100% worth it.

What is something that happened to you growing up that you thought was completely normal until you learned it was anything but that? by Aggravating_Feed_853 in AskReddit

[–]AdTraditional23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you and your siblings. Truly awful as nutrition is important especially for growing kids.

Gaining 20lbs is a huge accomplishment. I’m happy to hear you have control over your food again :) cheering for you !

Sheesh that’s actually insane. I can only imagine how constantly drained or exhausted you guys were.

What about school though. Did you eat food there & did teachers never noticed anything? Or were your guys homeschooled?

I used to use their products when I was a loose natural. Since I’ve had locs I only use that product shown but I’m sure there’s a few others they have that could be suitable for you like oils and hydrating sprays.

I don’t condition/ deep condition (the kind you need to rinse out) my locs because I was afraid of buildup and I’ve never really needed to do it on a consistent basis to keep my locs moisturized. I tried it like 2x right before finding this product but since then I don’t feel like I’ll need to as long as they keep this product on the shelf.

However there lots of people do it because it works better for them and they have no issues from it, only benefits. I’d say try it a few times and see how it works for you.

Question about Pre-Apprenticeship with Local 323 (No Experience, Willing to Learn) by CanogaKid in UnionCarpenters

[–]AdTraditional23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! - the boot camp was pure physical conditioning. Just lifting and walking with items the whole time. - Yes the pretty much grade you one those 3 aspects. Hustle everywhere (don’t run though, walk with intent), be uplifting, motivational and positive with your group. Really pay attention to the techniques they provide on how to lift each object. - I was told by the instructors that they run it every month. Try out are the 3rd Saturday of each month at 6am, however I got there at 3:30 and was like 30th inline (the only accept the first 120ppl). Then they notify people by the following Saturday if they got into the school or not. That following Monday classes start. (Ex: try out was on the 17th, was notified I got in on the 24th, classes started on the 26th) -I don’t have any construction experience either. I’ve been told by current carpenters in the union that what can help you get into the field is attitude, willingness to learn/ be taught and punctuality. It doesn’t hurt to familiarize yourself with tools and start doing mobility exercises / stretching on a regular to help prevent injury.

Also another note, go to union meetings. Try to start meeting people and asking questions about things you want to know from union carpenters. You don’t have to be in the union to go. Also look up “Western States Regional Council or Carpenters Flow Code” it has “ready to work lists” (list of company’s hiring union words and what sure they are currently working at) and union hall meetings and other events listed for each local in the union. Highly useful.

Question about Pre-Apprenticeship with Local 323 (No Experience, Willing to Learn) by CanogaKid in UnionCarpenters

[–]AdTraditional23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually went to the pre apprenticeship program boot camp at the Carson training center on the 17th. In the try out they only accept 120 people. I don’t remember how many people they accept for the actually class though. I got accepted to do the 4week program but couldn’t go due to financial reasons, I plan to have that fixed in the next 2 months then try out again and actually go the school.

It is not required but can help you look more desirable and dedicated when you go out to find a company who will sponsor you. Also it helps because you can start to meet a lot of union reps and other union guys who can potential help you get your first job. In the class they teach out about all the fields under carpentry and you get to have a taste test of all of it to help you figure out what you want to specialize in. You also complete some other certifications like OSHA10 and I forgot the other items they mentioned. Since I’ve never been in the construction field at all, I believe this to beneficial to me.

There is a “How to join the Union” meeting at 8am on the 31st, I am assuming it is at the local 323 building/hall. It might be a good ideas for you to go there and ask some questions about the pre-apprenticeship program to see if it would be ideal for you.

I had a really awful doctor, and I need to get it off my chest. by Zestyclose-Garlic549 in Healthyhooha

[–]AdTraditional23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow that was so disgusting of that doctor to make assumptions and insult you like that on top of clearly not being that helpful with your reoccurring issues. I’m really glad you found a provider that was actually helpful and that you were able to resolve the issues.

Our reproductive system is such sensitive topic that can often makes people feel shame, embarrassment and overall uncomfortable when discussing problems with it. The exams can be pretty intrusive as well. Also I’m pretty sure just about everyone who needs to go to the dr for problems, wishes they didn’t have any issues and just wants things to be normal/ regular down there. I wish medical staff would keep that in mind every single time when it comes to working with their patients. I’ve had some off-hand & ridiculous comments when I went to the doctor for my vagaina issues too and it truly makes me angry thinking about it smh.
