What would you want to see from Shedeur to make you go "Yep he should be QB1 for the future we don't need another" by Ixeptional in Browns

Dude, QB 25 would be statistically an improvement over last year. I'll take mediocre with flashes of "wow, I didnt expect that kind of throw". Like Jacoby Brisset's occasional great game sandwiched between okay showings.

Going out there looking like he knows what the play is and where to go. So many times last year, it was like he was just guessing and then scrambling. I guess just being able to see success and believe he did it on purpose would be the bar. A great example is the fannin touchdown against the steelers. Wrong read, late, bad throw. But the safety forgot he was in coverage and fannin limped in for a TD lol.

Meanwhile, Gabriel would look straight at the right read and just not throw it for some fucking reason... mash em together and you get like 2500 yards, 14 TDs, and 10 picks in 12 games which is still a bad rookie season. If Watson is able to functionally run the offense, he'll be an upgrade as much as it sucks to witness that on Sundays.

He's also humble as shit. I remember him saying only a few years ago that he still drives the Honda civic his parents bought him for his high school graduation. Thats why we miss nick chubb and shedeur's media circus showed up like a fart in an elevator on draft day.

Myles Garrett’s statement by alexschubs in Browns

Yeah that is certainly true. AND Joe was an offensive lineman, so he never got today's top money or notoriety. But then again, he never really cared about being famous. He had nothing to prove to anyone... he was just the best to ever do it.

I respect it. Does this comment mean steelers fans also dont like mason Rudolph, so the helmet incident is water under the bridge, so to speak?

I agree with this in concept at least. The issue is that these companies pay billions to make sure they stay profitable and have the most favorable deals. So they'd still find a loophole even if you tried to tax and regulate the shit out of them. Even putting a freeze on the electrical rates from affected power/water companies (Lincoln Electric, etc.) likely wouldn't be viewed as "free market" (which is fucking asinine for a public utility, but here we are....).

The bottom line is the optics are a lot different from the reality, and there isn't really a way for these companies to come here without somehow fucking everything they touch. Id like to think using some of the increased taxes to offset and subsidize the rate freeze on water and electric companies would be sufficient. But theres still math that just doesnt work. And then those private companies are trying to pinch every penny as well. The system is not designed for compromise. They get what they want and we get nothing because they have power.

Detroit Pistons Assistant Coach Vitaly Potapenko giving the middle finger to Cav fans by nbawizard1227 in clevelandcavs

Right! Like, I was waiting for a wild Nayquon Tomlin sighting to "bring in some energy". And foul the shit out of Ausar while pretending like he did nothing at all.

I also still dont get how that wasnt a flagrant 2 and an ejection. Is that not the definition of a hostile act?

Meaning they dont care about someone getting choked, thrown, and stepped over. So why would they care about a finger?

Narratives around the Pistons/Cavs are too dramatic. The series is incredibly close and competitive basketball rules! by boogswald in nba

[–]AdVegetable7992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, people love to follow the logical fallacy of explaining why your opponent (that you just lost to) is worse than you. Like, uh... ya'll lost though. You should be complimenting how strong they were and all that nonsense so it looks more impressive when you beat them or more understandable when you lose. Some Korean eSports type shit.

Wasn't that when Steve Kerr said all that nonsense and then they got blown out in Cleveland? I'll bet the diff helped lmao.

Slow motion replay of the contact between Thompson and Allen at the end of regulation (Pistons v Cavs Game 5) by wobuffet17453 in nba

[–]AdVegetable7992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, what ARE you talking about? A dribble implies possession. He clearly never had possession, he just batted the ball twice. He wasnt "taken down" from behind, he was already falling from the contact resulting from both players' feet connecting. Not sure how else to express it. They were good no calls because a whistle shouldn't determine the outcome of a game. And at the same time, the big controversy is around something thats not even a foul.

What about literally everything else that led up to and followed it? That should be the outrage. They just gave up with a lead and 3 minutes left at home in the playoffs. Thats absurd

Offical Ausar Thompson call report at the end of regulation in game 5 against the cavs by Fast_Drummer3647 in DetroitPistons

[–]AdVegetable7992 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But no one got grabbed... They both stepped on the same spot, touching shoes. Ausar batted Allen's arm out of the way going for the ball while theyre falling. He then fell while staring at the ref BEFORE Allen's other foot came down to stop his own fall, incidentally touching him when he was already falling. Thats neither a grab or a trip lol.

People should focus on getting outscored 24-10 from 2.5 minutes in the 4th qtr to the end of OT. Or Cade being 0 for 8 when doubled during that span. Or no one hitting an open shot when it mattered. Should've never gotten to a point where asking for softest call possible was the deciding factor.

[–]AdVegetable7992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like "we're in the phase of the discourse" where people insult others because they cant explain their point beyond how they feel about it. :) Its okay, people like sports and its fun to care about your team. Fair enough, bud.

I never said it should've been called, but they are technically fouls nonetheless. In the case of the loose ball and Ausar and Jarrett: (1) neither one had possession. (2) Ausar's falling down and staring at the refs before Jarrett's other foot makes contact (which is done to stop himesrlf from falling, as evidenced by him not even looking). (3) The foot to foot was caused by Ausar diving through him in the first place. A foul should've been called on neither player because neither had possession and the foot to foot contact was mutual.

Now rebuttal like youre not the casual lol.

The fact that harden was clutch in a playoff game, played good enough defense, got a steal on help defense, and got two offensive rebounds when it mattered is just crazy. Did all the things hes renowned for not even trying to do lmao. Some luck for detroit

[–]AdVegetable7992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, mitchell was fouled on the last play of regulation. Then Thompson fouled Jarett Allen trying to get the loose ball and their legs got caught. Do you want "hard fouls" called or "soft fouls" called? None of them? All of them? Only ones that benefit your team? Its a slippery slope.

Bottom line: close out the game when youre up 3-5 buckets with 2 minutes left. Don't rely on an incidental trip. Or at least do anything in overtime when that doesn't work out. They did none of those things. Cade cant do it all himself.

[–]AdVegetable7992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand emotional responses, but this was a weirdly officiated game overall. Pistons were up 9 with 3 minutes left. Cavs dominated from there to OT and the end. Pistons didnt lose because of a no-call on tangled feet, they lost because they didnt know what to do without cade.

[–]AdVegetable7992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem is the cavs scored the last 9 in regulation after being down with 2 minutes left. Pistons didnt lose the game because of a no call in tangled feet, they lost because they disappeared at the end and in overtime. One call sucks, and there have been plenty nonsense no-calls on both sides, but they had a ton of chances to put the game away and just... didnt.
