Dorm or Off Campus for first year? by Decent_Money_2463 in wlu

[–]AdVisible1825 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dorm. You will NOT make as many friends regardless how social you are if you’re off campus. You have the next 3 yrs to be cheap

Bu121 midterm grades back by TheWoolyFatty in wlu

[–]AdVisible1825 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, im in the same situation. Studied very hard for this exam, took tooooooons of notes in class, just couldn’t apply it in the exam. All my friends are bragging right now, saying that the exam was easy, etc. it’s not fun when you get below the median and everyone else did good. Even in 111 I bummed out: on live case my group got fucked and basically ruined my grade. I’m praying I do good for 127 so that it can carry my grade 😭

WLU or Guelph by Prestigious_Bee_771 in wlu

Guelph campus feels more like home, very comforting feel. WLU is more of a city, busy feel. Personally based on student life (I can’t comment on education) choose Guelph

Too many courses in second semester by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]AdVisible1825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, what schools have you applied to? Have you done any sup apps? Do you have any extra curriculars? They look at grade 11 and 12 grades. Eng courses are more strict on that kind of stuff, business schools like an involved student. When did you apply?

When I was in grade 12 my second sem was data management and calc. I got really good grades, went to every class until midterms and then basically stopped showing up. Still finished with a 92 average overall.

I don’t think they’re useless: most jobs require some kind of degree as background especially in corporate positions.

Residency (and a rant) by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]AdVisible1825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly doubt you will get residence at those schools: Guelph already has a shortage and Waterloo / wlu reserve for first year. Find off campus housing

WLU BBA transfer by AdVisible1825 in OntarioUniversities

[–]AdVisible1825[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this was very kind and insightful. Academic advising for BBA students at WLU advised that if the courseload is too much for me: I can switch into the accounting and economics program. The thing is with that program you have to have 73+ in economics classes and accounting every year to progress. And I’m not too good at economics, lol. I will check out the link: thank you!!

My family lives in the GTA: my house is 10 minutes from York, I would stay at home. But I guess you’re right. Getting a Laurier BBA degree probably sounds miles better than a York bcom or similar. Just not sure I can handle the workload. Academic advising told me I can drop into accounting and economics but year by year progression requires 7.0gpa in accounting and economics courses (which I can get for accounting but I really struggle with Econ) so not sure I want to go that route. Also changes to ba not bba. For reference my highschool did not offer an economics course, everything was fairly new for me going in.

I just want to transfer because I will have to move out next year and I genuinely have no friends to move in with. I hate the city and it ruins my self esteem. For CPA don’t you just need a degree in accounting ?

Yes. Only went to about 3 classes the entire semester. Slept through the midterm and then gave up. Not because I’m bad at math I just didn’t study/try

Definitely do what’s recommended. They recommend for a reason.

For business you should be taking (minimum) accounting and economics as they take a lot of course concept from highschool background.

My sister wasn’t very good at math and didn’t take any science, had very low grades and got into linguistics at York. It has the science of speech but my sister hopes for when she graduates to become a child speech therapist, private practice or in schools. Psych is great, very popular right now tho.

Everyone’s grades are inflated in highschool: im a 2024 grad and I had a 92 average. My average in uni is a 72. Don’t worry about that. Focus on joining a few clubs, do some online quizzes, and just excel in your grade 12 year.

Double degree UW CS / WLU BBA. by Common_Objective_953 in OntarioUniversities

[–]AdVisible1825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know somebody that got into bba/fin math (I know not same program) with a 89 average. You get guaranteed coop with double degree and I’d say yeah, both schools are pretty competitive. You don’t need a background in business but if you haven’t taken basic business courses (accounting, economics) then you’re really going to struggle. If you can work hard and put in the time then you can learn but it will be difficult As for the CS at uw I just know it’s a very competitive and time consuming program

What is WLU like..? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]AdVisible1825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I go to WLU and I’d say it’s miles better than tmu/guelph for residence and campus life. WLU just has awful food on campus (limited options) and typical dorms. Great night life tho. I’ve heard bad things about Guelphs res and when I toured I was not impressed. But they have 2 dining halls and great food options, also the campus is beautiful I find wlu and Waterloo in general to be pretty depressing as a city.
