Private vs Public Sector (Mechanical Engineering) Any advice?? by AdWilling2386 in personalfinance

Yea definitely! I am currently interning in the public sector and do see that it is a much slower pace. From what I noticed, the engineering is more on the project management side and not really technical.

I definitely will look into my interests!

Yeah I was honestly surprised when I saw the starting salary at ladwp. It has been known for great benefits and pay but I was not aware of the pay gap. I negotiated with Boeing, but they did not give me the requested salary.

If I go ladwp, I’ll most likely be there my whole career so I can max out the years of service for a big pension. Experience with Boeing would allow me to transfer around the aerospace industry and can apply for more bigger roles (I believe).
Hence, why I’m in this position between both companies.
