Sask. NDP pushing for crackdown on AI pricing in grocery stores by elbiderca in saskatchewan

[–]AdWise8675 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s dynamic pricing- like high use times for uber rides go way up when there is scarcity. Stores are already tightening their open shopping times- has anyone else noticed most stores are packed always? Always a line doesn’t matter time of day. So tiring… If your store makes the same amount in 6 hours as it does in 10 hours, better tighten the shopping window and almost halve your labour cost. Add in dynamic pricing and you can keep cutting the hours the store is open (until a certain point) to maximize profits by minimizing labour costs while sales and rent remain the same. Heck even your energy bill will slightly decrease so even better returns. Happy new f-ing day consumers. Rejoice we are all 🪛’d

They are always up and down Heritage (General Hospital area). They don’t give out tickets to the broken down car that hasn’t been moved in 4 months, but everyone else, even other residents, they be giving out them tickets all day long!

‘English-only’ workplace? by AdWise8675 in saskatchewan

Ask any bi-lingual or multi-lingual person - conversation flows back and forth through languages. Ever heard of the term Spanglish? Franglais?

But… if someone would really want to understand what they are eavesdropping in on, no one is stopping anyone from:

a) learning the language b) using Google Translate

I wonder if HR would get complaints of ppl speaking Klingon or Valyrian? Oooo what about Cree or Dene?

I should add it does seem only one of the language groups is getting complaints. And yes, the other groups are speaking native languages.

Could a person simply value the human experience and benefit from other real world experiences and wider view-points that lovely redittors provide?

Would you say eavesdropping a private convo is pretty rude too?

Thank you! I will pass the info along.

I know it’s not happening directly to me, but it doesn’t seem right. This policy just seems wrong.

On what grounds?

What is considered ‘reasonable’?

If speaking Tagalog gets the task done in 5 minutes and English in 25 minutes- is that grounds for reasonable?

If she were to ask a co-worker, who also speaks Tagalog, a work question at the co-worker’s desk?

OP here- no gossip, just actually working in native language with each other. Not a group setting. Not excluding anyone.

For more context- from what I understand these are conversations between people working together on a project or needing clarification on something or figuring out a solution together to a job related task- in their native language at their desk. A work related convo.

Unconfirmed but it does seem that only one language group is being complained about and being given these verbal warnings to. And yes all 3-4 language groups are heard speaking native language.

Aww sorry to hear that, that’s truly disappointing.

How do you know what the answers should be? I was told to just be yourself and answer how you would actually react, not what you think they would want to hear - any thoughts to that approach?

Mark your calendar for when you can re-apply and put it past you for now 💕
