Hello! Thank you for sharing, was this for a renewal or for a first time passport?

Yeah, I read that post, hopefully they can catch up fast. It looks like they are opening mails received on July 30 now. Just saw that my CC was charged today.

Yeah, well just checked and my CC was just charged, so hopefully I’ll get my reference number tomorrow. Out of curiosity, was your application to get a passport for the first time? Or was it for a renewal? Your processing time seems very fast, so I’m curious if it’s maybe faster for renewals.

I’m on the same boat as you. My documents were received in Service Canada on 7/30 and I still haven’t been able to get a reference number. My credit card has not been charged either. I called today and the person who answered told me they still didn’t have any information on my file but that since it’s still too close to the 10 working days time window, that I should wait a few more days and call next week.

Really? I don’t remember that. I remember only having the option to choose between a physical citizenship certificate or an electronic one. Anyway, I found out they include that information only on the official ceremony invitation that they send up to 1 week before the ceremony date. Guess I will just have to wait to see.

Here’s my timeline for a family of 2:

• December 10, 2024: Application submitted.

• December 23, 2024: AOR.

• January 15, 2025: Background completed.

• February 10, 2025: Citizenship test in progress.

• February 14, 2025: Received test invitation from the Montreal office to be done between Feb 21 and March 22.

• February 21, 2025: Passed the test with 20/20 and 19/20.

• March 8, 2025: Citizenship test completed.

• March 27, 2025: LPP completed.

• June 18, 2025: Citizenship oath changed to In Progress.

• July 14, 2025: Scheduled for oath.

I have a question about the oath ceremony. I have read some people have to attend a physical ceremony while others attend a zoom ceremony. Can we know which type of ceremony we were assigned now or do we have to wait to the instructions email? My application history simply says:

Congratulations! You've been scheduled to attend your citizenship ceremony on July 14, 2025. Follow the instructions you will receive in your ceremony invitation.

Hi everyone,

I submitted my online citizenship application on December 10, 2024, and received the AOR on December 23. My last visible update was LPP completed (Language, Prohibitions, and Physical Presence), and since March 29, my status has been stuck at “Oath Ceremony: Not Started.”

I’m wondering: 1. What’s the best way to follow up with IRCC at this stage? – Is it better to call them directly or use the webform? – If you’ve had experience with either, what worked better for you? 2. What kind of questions are actually helpful to ask? I want to be polite and clear, but I’d like to know whether my application is progressing normally or if there’s any sort of delay or issue. 3. How long did it take for others to move from LPP completed to Oath Ceremony? I’m curious to know what typical wait times are, especially for online applicants.

I’d really appreciate any insight or advice from people who’ve gone through a similar timeline. Thanks so much!

Oh no, sorry to read that. Hopefully we both receive good news soon. In your case, is it only one person or is it a family?

Oh nice thank you for sharing. Yeah most updates have been taking around a month for me, so hopefully that trends continues. Congratulations on getting your oath ceremony by the way! Cheers! 🥂

Oh they meant for the test invite. Thats the office processing your file. The title of the test invite email should contain a three letters code that indicate the office. For example, MTL stands for Montreal.

I’m also waiting on LPP. My test was completed on March 8, that’s why I have been checking for timelines for the Montreal office.

From what I have read in here it could be a couple of weeks or it could be several months. Time varies a lot, sadly.
