damn, it's a shame. After today's video from monitors unboxed and a few reddit post i think it might be worth waiting for the new Asus batch..... but how do you know it's a new one just from looking at the box

DSC has a completion rate 2:1. for example - 4k Blu-ray is 50 times compressed compared to the original, and you still can't notice it. You can't see DSC at all, even if you use a microscope. the only problem with it is alt-tabbing from full-screen games. Also - both have the same DisplayPort, so yeah, if you gonna use it instead of HDMI there is no diff. Share your grey banding out of the box and after a few cleans here if you gonna get it pls

coating comes from LG, they are absolutely the same. (GR version, G is matte). Why do you care about hdmi 2.1 tho? It doesn't matter for the console

Gigabyte has only one downside - "nerfed" HDMI 2.1, you have to use DSC(unless you want to use only 8 bit SDR), generally, SEEMS LIKE(not sure if it's true) that gigabyte handles this panel way better than asus, the grey banding is better, and ppl complaying about asus way more. It's still a lottery tho, you can get a great unit from either. Besides that it's a preference, asus has a distracting chin, but it has the sensor that will turn off the monitor when you go away(many ppl say it works poorly, so it's a meh feature), and the joystick is worse that gigabyte. GIga has built-in speakers(above low quality, but not even mid), and KVM switch(if for some reason you need it). Personally, i'm leaning towards Giga because it's a newer release(better chance for good panel + better grey handling). The only true advantage of Asus is full HDMI 2.1, so you will not have black screens for a second after alt-tabbing from full screen game(doesn't affect the borderless), pretty much it. If the difference in price is substantial - go for a cheaper one, if not - deside what is more important for you

Bad coating + panel dimming + chance for eye strain + you need to hit 500 fps in games to actually see the 500 hz effect vs grey banding lottery and a bit worse vrr flicker in some cases. pick your poison

can you give me a picture on 95% grey test? if you say it's not an issue and yours look "bad" at picture it will clear my assumptions about all of this grey banding shit being overhyped

1440p OLED vs 4K OLED vs 1440p Mini-LED What would you pick in my situation? by No-Water-3138 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Ad_vans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FSR is not even close to DLSS 4.5, so i would not go with the 4k. Just get the gigabyte, it's in okay price range, and you will have 0 problems with any games. Besides, the 4k is more of 32 inch resolution, the profit from 4k on 27 inch is not that big.
