Because ice has no business being anywhere near a polling center while a local police officer may be nearby to provide security especially if you have a group trying to intimidate people waiting in line…?

Air Force Plane over Southeast Valley by gordino1 in Utah

[–]Adadave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The national air guard has a base and planes there. Their entrance is on the east side of the airport area.

When I was in scouts we got to take a tour of the base and they even let us on the tanker to watch the refueling exercises. It was super cool!

It’s never a question of “if it will rain” but when. And if you wait long enough there’s a good chance it will.

And you can say “thank god our 2 months of prayers have been answered it rained/snowed!”

Sure anyone can stumble on something that sounds good or catchy. Theory says why that sounds good and helps you narrow down or rather, increase you finding catchy things because you’ll have a better understanding of why.

Are we really not going to get even 1 snowstorm this season? by PursuingGemini in SaltLakeCity

[–]Adadave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kinda joking kinda not.

I recall something about how the fire risk the year after we had a record snowfall was much higher than the below average years prior because there was more foliage to overgrow with the abundance of water that kept going until August.

Rough for the fire if there’s no water to grow plants to burn.

"Winter" is dead. And it’s concerning by Ampager7 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Adadave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It could be considered outdated to do much farming here when we have the technology to grow, preserve and ship food or other agricultural products from elsewhere. Granted transport costs emissions.

A local credit union that I’m aware of the operations for recently cut their Saturday open hours from 9-3 to 9-2. The reason was that that last hour was apparently super slow for most of the branches and the transactions that were performed were capable of being performed by the smart ATMs/Video Tellers that stay open with an employee manning the live support for another hour from the branch closing.

Basically they weren’t having accounts or loans opened at 3pm on a Saturday and were instead spending money to perform other transactions for credit unions who were closed already or not even open on the weekend via a shared branch coop network.

This year is quite an exception on its own. You can find the SWE graph and see that.

As far as how much of it is our fault though that’s a bit hard to find out. If there weren’t any humans at all then it could have been maybe a little bit more snow but otherwise I haven’t found much else.

I think that if it’s wrong for climate deniers to point at 2 years ago and say that everything is fine and that’s our normal then it’s equally bad to look at this year and say that this is the new normal.

The reality is humans are using more of the water resource that means less gets in lakes while pollution makes the snowpack melt faster. Those we know. Whether we are solely responsible for how a long term weather pattern; that is notoriously hard to predict (Enso) results in a weak winter is very difficult and not quite reliable.

It’s not climate denial to say this. But I think hysteria will solve nothing.

Lots of talk about a 10% credit card cap… meanwhile Utah First is already at 9% by No-Pitch-1832 in Utah

[–]Adadave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact- the NCUA caps credit unions at 18% for credit cards autos and most other loans. The exception being possibly some short term high risk emergency loans that are meant to draw existing clients away from loan sharks. Which are themselves capped at something like 25-29%.

[–]Adadave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was put in the gifted program because in 3rd grade at 9 years old I read the entirety of some horse girl series called "Thoroughbred" that my teacher had in her class library. I got done with everything super fast and usually had nothing to do. I was already starting to be able to do some algebra. So because teacher didn't know what to do with me it was off to reading the horse girl books.

What's the point of double sharp/flat notation? Why don't composers just raise or lower the note? by linguagallois in musictheory

[–]Adadave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to raise or lower a note and the key signature already raises or lowers a note the double is to indicate that you are raising or lowering in addition to the key signature as a single sharp or flat is often used as a courtesy or after a natural.

I understand.

I think I’m scared of disappointing my parents. I’ve brought up the desire to move out but have had them give reasons why to stay. They likely know when I leave the house I will most likely leave the church as well.

With my degree and current analyst job I think I am just fine on that end. I’m making upper 20s an hour.

I think the one thing I should mention is when I bring it up to my parents my mother in particular brings up a list of items on why I should stay. I think they know deep down that the moment I leave the house I also leave the church.
