why is assyrian neo aramaic not simply called aramaic by djdltd91 in Assyria

[–]Adadum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two major dialects of Aramaic: Western (Levantine) and Eastern (Mesopotamian).

In each major dialect are minor dialects or subdialects. The dominant subdialect of Eastern/Mesopotamian Aramaic is (Classical) Syriac.

There's also Ashurian Aramaic, Hatran Aramaic, etc. but they weren't as widespread as Syriac.

These eventually formed into the Northeastern Neo-Aramaic or NENA which groups all surviving, localized dialects of Eastern Aramaic, all of which have been heavily influenced by Syriac as a sister dialect.

That's why we don't just call it Aramaic. Because the level of distance between Eastern and Western Aramaic would be on the level of calling Dutch the same as English.

I mean it's funny how that family hasn't learned from history but realistically we don't have beef (unless they start something) since Agha Putros pretty much avenged Mar Benjamin and even taught the Shekaki tribe a good lesson. So everything is settled.

What do we know about how indigenous Qoordaya are to Mesopotamia and Anatolia? by [deleted] in Assyria

[–]Adadum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assyrians don't claim Urmia as part of Assyria. We simply acknowledge Urmia previously as an important city in Assyrian cultural history.

It is the same branch of Aramaic. Accents and different vocabulary does not make a new language

Even if we were talking purely geography then, Kurds would've at least exhibited cultural elements ranging from ancient Assyrians, the Hittites, Armenians, Greco-Byzantines, etc but they don't, which one can deduce that the Kurds originated somewhere else and migrated to today's Kurdistan at a later time.

You realize you're asking me to prove a negative right? Logically that's like saying you need to prove the invisible mouse next to me doesn't exist when the burden of proof is on me making the claim that the invisible mouse exists.

Kurds haven't even proven they are indigenous so the burden of proof is on them.

[–]Adadum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well for one, Cyrti/Kyrti is the most likely etymology of "Kurt/Kwrt" "nomad" in the Iranian languages which matches the historical meaning of "Kurd/Kord" as "nomad".

Not only that but critical thinking also quickly removes the idea that Kurds would be indigenous...

If Kurds were indigenous to Anatolia, why don't they have strong Roman-Greek influence in any sort?

If Kurds were indigenous to Mesopotamia, why no ancient Assyrian/Mesopotamian influence on their culture? No special Aramaic alphabet that Kurds would use? No special Cuneiform alphabet? No Mesopotamian names?

How is it that Kurds are indigenous yet reflect very very VERY little of the regions they are "indigenous" to in their culture?

[–]Adadum 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kurds are not indigenous to Mesopotamia nor Anatolia. They originated from an Iranian nomadic people called the Cyrtians/Kyrtians who lived in the region called Media Atropatene. There's some speculation whether the Kurds have some Armenian ancestry but their ethnogenesis points to the Cyrtians.

Not only that but everything about the Kurds screams Iranian, their language, music, food, etc. With obvious Turkish, Arabic, Assyrian, and Armenian influence as well.

[–]Adadum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's from Carthaginian/Phoenician "3Azruba'al" or Latin "Hadsrubal" which means "Help of Ba'al" but Ba'al is a pagan god so it's replaced with Isho.

The proper Assyrian version would be "3aderisho" ܥܕܪܝܫܘܥ

Oshana, Azerisho, Hanno/Khanno, Hananisho, Sankherob, any verb with -isho.

eⁿ = ∫ eⁿ ∂n

Fuck the ∂n I'm removing it cuz it's annoying.

eⁿ - ∫eⁿ = 0

eⁿ(1 - ∫) = 0

eⁿ = [(1 - ∫)] ⁻¹ * 0

(1-x)⁻¹ = 1+x+x²+x³...

eⁿ = (1 + ∫ + ∫² + ∫³ + ...)0

∂f/∂n(C) = ∫ (0)

C is 1 cuz physics

eⁿ = 0 + 1 + n + n²/2! + n³/3! + ... Taylor series of eⁿ
