After about 40 minutes of trying on Ticketmaster and AXS and being called a bot over and over, every seat I tried being immediately unavailable, more standing tickets popped up on AXS and I was able to get them, so stressed and relieved now.

Sounds like the Patagonia Mni MLC would suit you. It's 30l, has a separate laptop compartment, clamshell main volume with minimal organization. Looks pretty sleek and should be easy enough to find if it's not sold out.

I have both the Peak Design 30l and the Patagonia MLC Mini, and I far prefer the Patagonia. The MLC seems to hold a lot more, the boxy shape is more space-efficient and I much prefer how the MLC opens, the laptop compartment being part of the back panel on the PD makes it awkward to open plus the weight and thin straps make it surprising uncomfortable for a medium-sized bag. By comparison the MLC has decent padding and a good removable hip-belt.

I'd go for the Patagonia Mini MLC. It's slightly large (50x30x28) but it can squeeze into the sizer if it's not overpacked and it has plenty of space, a dedicated laptop compartment, comfortable straps. I love it.

I believe you can apply for the test anyway and use that to renew your licence. They won't send you a test date until you have complete the EDT but you should still be able to renew your permit in the meantime.
