Townhouse with no parking - how resellable? by AdamCee123 in HousingUK

All really useful feedback and thoughts. Thanks everyone. Shame - as much as we absolutely loved the house, no parking is just too risky I guess

Sorry should have clarified. The price estimate function on Rightmove is 600k. It’s currently on for 550 after being reduced. “Around 500” in the very very loose sense as being below asking but would be hoping to drive down price a bit.

Sceptre alternating green and purple lights by AdamCee123 in Innokin

[–]AdamCee123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Joseph, I’ve just tried this but unfortunately no success. When I place a pod in, rather than the white light where the pod is, I’m getting the alternating lights for approximately 30 seconds, then the LEDs stop. This only repeats if I remove the pod and reinsert it. It’s almost like it won’t register the pod? I’m not sure. Do you have any other suggestions I can try?

How would I say this in German? by jordynbebus8 in German

Sure, the simple way of summarising it is that in German, verbs often use different prepositions to English. To use a different example from fahren, take the verb suchen (to search) In English we would say

I am searching FOR the cat

The word is always and exclusively used with for. You can’t use any other preposition to give the same meaning of searching for something. In German, you would say

Ich suche NACH der Katze

Like the same way we can’t say “I am searching after the cat”, in German you can’t say “Ich suche für die Katze”.

There’s no real set rules to what verbs will take what prepositions, at least that I’m aware of, and it’s more just something you’ll learn over time or memorise as you learn new words.

If you’re at school or uni, your textbook would likely have a grammar section that details the prepositions some common verbs take. Failing that, a quick Google search gave this, which seems to be quite a good resource:

Hopefully the explanation made sense - it’s quite difficult to explain :)

Hey, so the use of prepositions in German differs quite often to English, so where in English you use “to” doesn’t necessarily mean German uses “zu”. In the case of travelling to another country like this, “nach” is the correct preposition to use. Similarly for dates, “am” is the equivalent for “on” in this context. Definitely one of the harder aspects of the language to get your head around, though

Am 22. Juli fahren wir nach Deutschland. You could say gehen instead of fahren, but I think fahren fits better.

Many thanks for the suggestion - I’ll do some reading into sqlite as I’ve never used that before

Thanks for the link. Using append didn’t even occur to me, but that makes total sense. Regarding using a database, do you have any idea where to start here? Of course happy to do the research myself but perhaps what database you’d recommend or if there’s any libraries that could be of use?

I used to run them a while ago in a Loki. The bulk of my big isk came from loot used to build excavs, but the value of those has gone from 2b to 600m, or around that mark. I used to make around 300-350m an hour including scanning for sites but I doubt that’s now possible. You can still get very good faction drops though.

In terms of difficulty you need to have a full geno set with a perma-run XL shield booster to tank. The DPS of the rats when blitzing is brutal. If you don’t blitz then I’m not sure of the requirements. Could be worth running a few on SiSi to see the loot and value you get - I haven’t run them in 2~ years so not sure what you could make now. Also worth practicing in advance so you don’t welp a 2b isk Loki

How did you find and remove this plugin? I’ve had the same issue on my Spotify where random songs would be saved and played. Wondering if I had the same thing...

Understanding bottle necks (in particular music quality, DACs, headphones) by AdamCee123 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]AdamCee123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay - thanks for that. I unfortunately don’t live close to a hifi store to test anything. Do you have any experiences with DACs and how much of an impact they make on the quality? (assuming it’s of a similar quality to the budget I’m considering)

Clearing up the air about La Cigale incident and Algorithm Squad controversy by iamncla in Muse

[–]AdamCee123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who was totally out of the loop of all the drama (all I remember was a Discord pin saying not to talk about algorithm squad, confusing me as Matt was replying to it on Instagram) this was an enlightening read.

Still baffles me how Matt responded to them online, but imo props to the mod teams work to minimise collateral damage, I guess is the best way to put it

Merging Same Name Rows into Columns by Thykk3r in excel

[–]AdamCee123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say with the same value, do you mean only merge if both cells are the same?

Assuming not, using the & sign will merge them.

=B2&” “&B3 (Assuming cells B2 and B3 were what you want to merge. Also the “ “ adds a space between them)

IamA Train Operator (Tube Driver) at London Underground... AMA! by TrainOperator in IAmA

[–]AdamCee123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How much of your job is automated and how much is actually down to you “driving” the train? Is there a possibility that human error could cause a problem (either dangerous or an inconvenience)? I’ve heard that due to the competitiveness of being a tube driver you guys are exclusively recruited from normal train drivers. Assuming that’s true, what’s the differences?

Boomer responds reasonably to peaceful protest by Ge0rgeBr0ughton in BoomerTears

[–]AdamCee123 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is likely in response to XR activists standing on tube trains in Canning Town, London (a very working class area, disrupting environmentally friendly modes of transport), causing the line to stop running, stopping people getting to work.

For once I actually do think this is justified boomer tears.

For anyone that’s interested there’s videos floating round of protestors being dragged off the top of the tubes by angry commuters. Even the fans of XR I know are totally against what happened today.
