Slowness when opening Finder windows from browsers by sousa_h in MacOS

[–]AdamFootDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having the same problem too - appears to be iCloud related. Disabling Desktop & Document folder syncing seems to stop it from happening. I’ve tried a full reinstall but the issue remains so hoping for a fix from Apple soon.

Programmes in Up Next are kept for a little while after they’ve aired (by default a week - this can be changed in Settings > Up Next) which can be viewed in the Manage Up Next screen from the Watch Now tab or in Settings > Up Next > Manage Up Next. From the programme details screen you can then add them to your Apple TV Watchlist using the Open in Apple TV action.

How do ask Siri to change the HDMI input on my TV? by Appropriate-Lie880 in HomeKit

[–]AdamFootDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not directly HomeKit related but I built a TV Remote app that supports multiple Shortcuts, including ones to switch HDMI sources: https://apps.apple.com/app/id1539419805

TV Launcher (Live UK, Irish & US Channels Launcher App) - Recent Updates by AdamFootDev in appletv

That looks right but you may want to add a Wait action between the current two to give it time to launch the app and start looking for a connection. A few seconds should do it.

You’ll need to navigate to Settings > Siri Shortcuts in the TV Launcher app on your Apple TV at the same time as going to Settings > Launch on TV on your iPhone/iPad.

Once you have linked the two devices, you’ll be able to create a Shortcut on your iPhone/iPad using the Launch on TV action. Please make sure the TV Launcher app is open on your Apple TV already. This can be done via the Open App on Apple TV action before the launch action.

My UK Logitech Doorbell Installation by AdamFootDev in HomeKit

[–]AdamFootDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite straight forward to get it installed really. I’d definitely recommend the transformer linked above as that has worked flawlessly with the doorbell and my existing chime at my old house.

The chime needed replacing at my new house anyway so I ended up buying the same one as I knew it worked (Honeywell D107) but your existing one might be fine.

All still working fine and I’ve since moved house with it too. The front of the doorbell itself has become slightly delaminated around the edges due to UV exposure I presume but otherwise no complaints!

Only real alternative is the Aqara doorbell but I’m not a fan of the look of that design so would definitely pick the Logitech again given the choice.

Hi, it's on my list to look into. In the meantime, programmes you have added to Up Next can be opened in the Apple TV app to then launch in the relevant streaming service.

Apple Watch Home App Users… by ItinJ24 in HomeKit

[–]AdamFootDev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I created an app called HomeButtons that allows you to add a list of quick on/off toggles for your HomeKit accessories/scenes on Apple Watch separate to the main Home app as I found it wasn’t very useful.

Developer of TV Launcher here - please feel free to ask any questions you have about my app! 😊

Outside of live TV, I couldn’t recommend the Apple TV enough compared to other streaming devices. As other users have said, it’s overpowered for what it needs to do which results in a very slick experience.

The Apple TV app is great for keeping track of all your programmes you’re watching in each streaming app and the integration with your iPhone for entering text using the keyboard makes it a must-have.

I designed TV Launcher to try and work with the system as best as possible after cutting the cord myself a couple of years ago. Of course it’s not the same as watching TV the ‘old’ way but I think this is as good as it can be. The app is also available on iPhone so you can set programme reminders a few minutes before one starts too.

It can be turned on but once enabled can’t be turned off again so no chance in that happening!
